I still need to properly attach the paneling to the flat trim piece, I'm thinking possibly L brackets along the 90 degree angles, but I'll cross that road when I come to it. Not the greatest but gets the point across I believe. formerly known as Blue86f150 its a 4th order just because its tuned in the 40z doesnt mean it wont reach down and jiggle your balls at sub 30 hz frequencies. Cardboardcat15 Posted October 9, 2013 Author Report Posted October 9, 2013 what i did today. sealed off and weatherproofed (lol) the trim panels. clamps are there to hold the panel in place while the caulk dries I also added some weather stripping on the outer edges of the trim piece this is what ive got done so far, and it shuold be completely sealed off now. once I get full power I shuold then be able to make changes if needed. Cardboardcat15 Posted October 16, 2013 Author Report Posted October 16, 2013 Okay, I haven't updated this in a few days. Anyway, I ran into some problems. Let's just say I learned some stuff the hard way, lol. So I didn't understand what people had asked me when someone mentioned an accordion boot earlier in this thread. Didn't know what it was, or if I needed one. Welp, turns out I needed one. Bad. Apparently my truck has a bed that moves freely from the cabin of the truck, signified by the break in body continuity (the big ass gap between bed and cabin). I guess the gap means the bed moves freely. Which means the weather stripping that was already in place was the wrong type for the truck. After talking with the owner of a reputable truck accessory store out here, he told me that I needed an accordion boot to properly seal off the shell and cabin. So whoever installed this shell and window for my grandfather 10~ years ago did a shitty job because the opening of the camper shell and the window hole are two different sizes. They also used the wrong type of weather stripping to begin with AND tried to seal off the cabin with bondo. Lol. /rant Anyway here's some pictures. 102 dollars later, I got this. 15ft If you look closely, you can see all the water damage to the trim panels. Thankfully there was little water damage to the port. drips Anyway, the reason why everything started leaking was because when I started driving around the caulk hadn't completely set in, and when the truck bed was moving it unsettled the caulk leaving a big ass crack along the seal. GG. And I finally got it on. This thing was a bitch to fit in. the ledge on the camper shell opening wasn't designed to take an accordion boot, it's almost too thick for the boot to attach to. I got lucky. all done (Kinda) heres where the boot doesnt work 100% (what the guy at the camper shell palce was telling me). Sicne the window hole and the shell hole are two different sizes, the boot doesn't match up. Now I have to figure out a way to seal the two corners off properly. That's all I;ve got for now guys, I'm STILL waiting on my refund, this time for Jon Rabe to get the money transferred into my paypal account. He's hard to get in contact with. Updates when I get em.
