Nick580 Posted May 17, 2013 Report Posted May 17, 2013 Soo I am considering building a new box for my lousy Hifonics BRZ15D4's but I dont really see the point in putting all that work into building an enclosure if im just going to through those back into it. What I am asking is what are some good quality 600+ rms subs that can replace my current ones but are not over $200ish but are still worth building a new box for. I realize this budget is kind of short but if I were to spend more than this I might as well buy the real deal. Plus im broke and in college. Any suggestions would be helpful and thanks in advance.

Nick580 Posted May 17, 2013 Author Report Posted May 17, 2013 Nice I was looking at those. I posted in the price thread but I haven't gotten a response yet
Nikitaaa Posted May 17, 2013 Report Posted May 17, 2013 Some used sa series or obsidians would be dope. Just throwing it out there that I hope you know the biggest difference you'll hear will be when you build a better box. Don't expect to gain all sorts of "loudz" just by dropping in different subs. My advice- keep what you've got now until you build a properly designed and constructed enclosure. I have redone the prefabricated box that they are in now and they sound much better but I know that If I were to actually build a box to the specs of the sub that they would sound way better. But after having these for so long I figured that I might upgrade because it will be a while before I can afford anything serious. I would also like to add that I am looking for 15".

I see that you have the 12" in your signature. What are your impressions? Sundown SAs are my go-to sub in that price range. I wasn't all too thrilled with the dc level 2. Cool thanks for letting me know. And the SA's are probably on the top of my list followed closely by the "Lethal Injections" and the "SDC 2.5"

Never gets hot or stinky and I beat the hell out of it. Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.
