Chris Hammer Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 Single cab ported box for 12s? You plan on raping your steering wheel? I built a ported box for some 8's for a friends F150 single cab, I believe a 96-97, barely enough room to do it right even with aero ports. Krakin Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 Ah the questions just mean you wanna learn so ask as many as you can. Personally I take everything that Kicker puts out with a grain of salt just because I have zero experience first hand with their products and have seen some overpriced equipment from them. But getting a new amplifier will all depend on the room you have in your truck. If you only have enough room for one sub and you plan on keeping that sub your current amp meets the specs perfect. If you upgrade later on in the future to a bigger sub, not necessarily in diameter, but as in going to a dual coil sub than your Ohm loads will change and you amplifier needs will change. I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.
Krakin Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 As what Chris said I doubt you will have the airspace for both 12's as my one 10" sub took half of the space just in the box more with the port. I know my truck is gm but same principle. Chris Hammer Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 IMO there ARE better/less expensive options to kicker stuff. Just my 2c, but not going to bash a brand. I just think you pay alot for their advertising. MY BUILD *****http://tinyurl.com/gmcbuild***** Vehicles 2005 GMC Canyon CB1000r - Currently where any future funds are going. Chris Hammer Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 Yeah, but depth might be a problem, we barely, I mean barely with routing out the back of the enclosure, fit some decent 8's. If you can do it though, I say go for it. If you you get dimensions and want a sketchup or some help, hit me up on PM, MY BUILD *****http://tinyurl.com/gmcbuild***** Vehicles 2005 GMC Canyon CB1000r - Currently where any future funds are going. These are the first products I've ever bought that were kicker. For what it's worth I'm satisfied with em, although I am interested in trying out other brands, I initially was set on getting my hands on a RF power series amp, but just don't have the cash.

The thing that kept me from actually starting my plan to build a new box was the response I got when I asked if I could get my cvts to sound louder deeper cleaner, all I got was that they were shallow mount woofers and there was no point in building a custom box for em.
Krakin Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 As for box calculators Torres is a great one. It just doesn't do multiple areo ports correctly. Here is the link for it's thread. I would recommend reading all you can. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/38791-torres-box-tuning-calculator-updated-818/ Edit: forgot to paste link...
