What should I tune my box to? Differences?

2001 Chevy Silverado LS extended cab

2x Sundown Audio SA12

Directed D2400

I listen to rap music only, mostly decaf.

I can't decide between high 20s, low 30s, or mid 30s. The box will be inside the cab, facing either up, forwards, or backwards, I will decide which sounds better in time.

sundown calls for 35Hz, that brings on some questions...

1- Would ultra low tuning even sound good in the cab of the truck as stated above?

2- If I tune at the recommended 35, would I still be able to play the really low stuff? i.e. Hood nigga, Hypnotize, etc.

3- Advantages/disadvantages of tuning at recommended 35Hz.?

4- Advantages/disadvantages of tuning lower than recommended?

If u tune to 33-35hz u should be able to drop low enough to play hypnotize an songs like that. I tuned a SP4 to 30hz an was picking up 20hz an playing it with authority. Tuning lower will help them play lower, longer. But u can still tune high an play low. Just make sure u make ur box big enough to drop low to. I'm sure someone more experienced with correct me if I'm wrong or chime in.

you sacrifice higher frequency output by tuning low, the subs suspension also plays a big roll on how far below tuning it can play before unloading, for mostly decaf i'd tune to 30-32 with 14sqin of port per cube

point the subs to the roof of your truck... i have a 2000 silverado with 2 kicker 12s in a box ported to 33 with the subs pointed to the roof and they slam, i pointed them towards me and they didnt really hit hard at all

yeah im tuned around 35 but at 1.8 per sub they pick up some lows but nothing in the 20's hell i thought at that point human ears cant hear that anyways

Thanks for the help and input this far, the max dimensions for the box are 46 x 16 x 16 and I want the port in the middle.

I have a couple more questions though...

1- I am using the Torres calculator and doing 2 port walls for a center port box, if my ports bend in the box ( L shape ), would it still be considered 2 port walls?

2- How far towards the rear of the box can I go with the ports? I am leaving the same length as I have port. (if my port is 3" wide in the front, I leave 3" clearance from real wall) is this the correct way?

3- How imperative is it to get the "port area per foot" right? I always seem to end up with just over or under the 12.5 mark.

4- Should I keep it as close to 2 cubes per as I can, or aim slightly higher, maybe 2.25-2.5 per?
