Steve Barber Posted May 24, 2013 Report Posted May 24, 2013 I am one of the people that have been ripped off by Tenney Alternators and am in the market for a new alt. I am thinking of going with a setup DC offers that uses my stock alt and one of their OEM 185 amp alternators. This setup will produce 260-270 amps at idle, and over 320 amps of max output.Or I can go with a single 340 amp HO alt.What are the advantages/disadvantages of going with a dual setup?What would you go with?

TeamHT Posted May 24, 2013 Report Posted May 24, 2013 Do whatever is easiest/cheapest/better looking to you. Running a larger is what I would do unless you need more amperage at idle. Or if you like the look of dual alts then do that route. No real answer here, it's going to be down to your preference Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
Steve Barber Posted May 25, 2013 Author Report Posted May 25, 2013 I will be running 4500+ watts for amps for now. I don't know if I am going to go any larger in the future but I think having high idle output is nice when sitting in the lanes at comps. Both will be around the same price and my engine bay has plenty of room for dual alts. I will be running a Ampere Audio 3800.1 on two Tantric HDD 15's and also a Ampere Audio 125.4 running Tantric components and coaxials. I might add another 3800.1 in the future to have one on each sub.
