will77530 Posted May 27, 2013 Report Posted May 27, 2013 Go to a single sub setup sealed and save yourself some headaches. It will take up less room. Look into Fi Q or SSA XCON sealed can give you the same problems as a ported enclosure, and why should he go to a single sub setup.....
lokki Posted May 27, 2013 Author Report Posted May 27, 2013 i got a design i was thinking of a did in sketchup i just dunno how to put it up here
cloud77 Posted May 27, 2013 Report Posted May 27, 2013 Go to a single sub setup sealed and save yourself some headaches. It will take up less room. Look into Fi Q or SSA XCON sealed can give you the same problems as a ported enclosure, and why should he go to a single sub setup..... baby steps. He can do whatever he wants. lokki Posted May 27, 2013 Author Report Posted May 27, 2013 Whats your electrical like? batteries? Wire brand? I doubt that amp puts out rated anyway, but you're still going to need to upgrade your electrical like it would put out rated. If you purchase Q, BL, XCON, or even 2 ssds, or 2 FI X, you can salvage the sub if you blow it with a recone, not just throw it in the garbage like those boss subs. I owned a pre-09 FI Q and it took 1700 and didn't get warm. Its all about the install, but music is so dynamic that you have to prepare your electrical for it either way. electrical is stock w/ 160 amp alt. was planning on a big 3 upgrade next weekend. stock battery and a 1 farad cap (i know its a small one, was left over from last system) and im running 0/1 ga wire
lokki Posted May 27, 2013 Author Report Posted May 27, 2013 not really a budget lol, im just to impatient to save a few bones out of a couple paychecks.
cloud77 Posted May 27, 2013 Report Posted May 27, 2013 You are going to want to get rid of the cap, and get something like an XS power D975 in the trunk. Also, try and install a meter to monitor your voltage instead of having to look back at the cap. What brand of wire are you using? lokki Posted May 27, 2013 Author Report Posted May 27, 2013 not sure on the wire brand off hand, i know its pretty stiff thats bout all i know lol
notorious97200 Posted May 27, 2013 Report Posted May 27, 2013 Wire brand matters ? Even if they were Boss subs, you need to know why they blow. That can happen with any sub. What is your budget for new subs ? You will need a serious enclosure now. You will need to know the tuning of the box/port to fine tune your amplifier subsonic filter. black BMW X1 2.0 l 192 hp OEM head unit, Amplifiers : Audison AP 8.9 with integrated DSP and Ampere Audio 1200. Focal ES 100 K in front doors, and Dayton RS 180 for midbass under the front seats. 2 SSA DEMONS 10" subs, in a sealed box. SecondSkin Damplifier on front doors, and Luxury Liner Pro for the cargo area.
lokki Posted May 27, 2013 Author Report Posted May 27, 2013 i could prolly go as high as 400 maybe 500 on a sub. i know i need to pick the sub before i start calculating the box. i'm leaning towards the SP418 but im gonna check out the other brands you guys sugested first i just grabbed the boss subs cause they were right there and said they could handle the power. up here in the north we got like 1 stereo shop in 100 miles man, and all they do is JLAudio. which i like but i aint droppin no 1,300 on a sigle 15
