Tested: Artificial UV-A lighting for SMD SunFlash Resin (Fluorescent & LED)

Recommended Posts

I know it might be a small area coverage but do you think this might work? it is in the same range as the panel you have.

150 bux isn't too bad for an led blacklight panel, I remember when those were around 7-800

150 dollars.... Hmmmm. I could buy like 540 of the wooden handle brushes from harbor freight for that. Nah, not sold on this stuff yet.

the sun is still free. The light is for using it when it's cloudy out or you are doing a kick panel where you can't get sunlight into the car. It isn't necessary to buy the light though.

I don't really expect someone who doesn't do much glassing to appreciate the product. I mean, a noob WILL appreciate it because it is dummy proof, but someone like me, who does it a lot, will really love it. Especially if they used the old shit for years, like me.

You go buy those 540 brushes, the 540 cups, the catalyst....keep making all that waste, and while you are waiting hours for shit to cure, mine is already done. Matter of fact, i am on the same brush for a month now. I used the standard shit recently because i didn't have a light and for the short time i had to go back to it, it was torture. You don't have to be sold on it, i really don't care either way, but i know for a fact this shit is amazing.....or i wouldn't bother put my name on it.

i have no idea. Try it :D

i would say that it all depends on how intense it is and if it is between 385-410nm it will work.

Hey Steve, any chance you could try a 520nm laser on this stuff? Lol I know it's a dumb suggestion because you would literally have to take hours to do it, but I just wanna know how fast it would dry the resin in the spot you point the laser, and if you'd be able to essentially write in it with the laser. Just a thought that popped into my head when you said Nanometers are important.

:P

520nm wont work. Even if it did, why would i want a spot, the size of a laser beam, cured......while the rest is still wet? Flooding an area would be the best, not pinpointing with a laser.

i didn't call you a noob....i just said that a noob can appreciate it due to there being no way to mix it too hot, or too cold. Right out of the bottle and on to your fiberglass and onto your project....its fast, easy and accurate (no mix). If you haven't done any glassing i would suggest you buy those 540 brushes and learn how the traditional way first. That is the only way you can truly appreciate the SunFlash resin. It's like this, if it is cloudy, i don't wanna glass ANYTHING. Well i have a light now so i can keep going but really i will do anything to avoid the standard resin.
