Efficient 8" SQ Sub

Recommended Posts

Lolz at the suggestion of the lanzar...op is running hertz up front.lol.

this tangbands are nice. I would look at the Dayton 8" sub on partsexpress too. Since your just looking to fill in and not exagerate your lowend I think a tline might be too much. I guess you could dial it back. What about trying sealed and see if you want more output then that.

Ditto.

hertz es200 over everything listed here

Guess I hadn't considered rounding out with my beloved Hertz. Cost would be my only concern, though their "lowly" 8" shouldn't run too high. I'll check the local dealers to see what they'll do. Great suggestion.

I strongly agree with the Tang Band suggestion

OP, enclosure design is really going to be the key in your sub stage. Plenty of subs will fit your criteria and do exactly what you want. Morel makes a high end SQ sub, Image Dynamics, Blues car audio, Rainbow even has some badass subs. If you're going for real SQ, tune low and really work on designing a good enclosure that works in the vehicle well.

T-line, or low tuned ported would be the direction I'd take.

I like the PE route. Was looking at:

and

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=264-854

and similar, even before posting. Was curious whether they'd come up here or not.

I like the ID suggestion, as well as Morel and Rainbow. Came across these names when looking for the components. The only issue is the dealers are two hours away. I want to audition these no matter what I end up with, just for kicks. Also thought about Sundown, though they are rated to be much less efficient (V1 anyway, V2 is average). I know this isn't the most crucial spec, but I do think it's relevant here.

Was in fact thinking about a sealed box, especially as the ID8 response curve was much flatter for the sealed setup.

No matter what, I won't have uber SQ simply because I don't have the patience or resources to iron out every last frequency. So many choices out there; I need more vehicles to try them all out...

the tang band neo is a pretty decent driver. I just prefer output and sound of the ES200 driver over them. There is a pretty good price difference though.

looks like Keith posted the ones i was talking about
