Midbass Question for the SQ people.

frequencies over lapping, when woofers are that large woofer/mid, well almost equally as large, equally as loud, it is important, no it doesnt matter much with some 6.5" and a pair of 12"s or 15"s, but 10"s and 12"s, yeah it would. The over lapping frequencies will not empower the over lapped freq, but kill it- cut it out of phase. Mic it, it will be noticeable.. but since this thread was just hypothetical, then it doesnt really matter.

I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.

Because they are of so much output? most likely that happens because of the wavelength difference.

Thanks guys.  I'll leave the 10's out of the design.  Ray, just out of curiousity, what component set would you recommend then?  And yea I definately agree with you, I hear so many cars that have the harshest sounding speakers and the owner thinks its the best thing since the wheel, when they sound like someone with a lisp is talking into a microphone.  But I should be okay with 2 12's, a good component set and some rear coaxes then?  I have a 100x2 amp right now, so what brand/line would sound good off that kind of power?  While I'd like to consider myself somewhat experienced with audio, in reality I'm really fairly new, so my ears aren't super critical, but I'm definately looking for some warm midrange.

A couple links to some box builds:

Tahoe Box 1, Tahoe Box 2, Nissan Titan, VW GTI,

Mini-Bump, Hummer H2, Ford F-150

My own car builds (current setup --- under construction):

Overall Thread, Kickpods, Dash, Back Doors

Subwoofer Wall

  • 4 weeks later...

I'm using 8"s in my doors and they drop really low for not being in an enclosure. The only time I have seen anything bigger used was in USD audio Buick Regal and they used 12" midbass with compression horns in the dash but that system was tuned to the max aperiodix membrains the whole nine. But bigger than 8's I wouldn't recommend it for tuning sake.

The SSMB8 on the leap program the Fs is between 50 to 63 in a .5 sealed enclosure the frequency they are quoted at is 30 to 500. But I am running them free air but my doors are dead as can be 3 layers. I will try to help anymore if you have any questions.

theres no such thing as too expensive when it comes to upgrades like that, because imo if you are gonna spend to upgrade then do it correctly rather then be a cheap ass ricer

What 8's were you looking at, What is nice about these 8's they are kickers and they require only 2.5" inches of mounting depth and they drop for that much depth I took a chance buying these because I'm not a kicker fan actually I hate them but these really impress me and that isn't easy.
