Karkov
What do you mean that's my problem? You're switching to external huh, i asked Mechman about that on the phone and they simply said "it's a internally regulated alt" so i figured i couldn't go external? I thought this thing was supposed to be hook up and go. Of course i don't know a lot when it comes to these things... What happens if i do nothing about it? It will let my voltage drop even when i have the subs in and playing? I don't get it 2007 Chevy Tahoe (SOLD) 12 ~ FI Audio X series 10" w/BP option 2 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @0.67 3 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @1.0 2 ~ PPI 3 way sets (not installed yet) 1 ~ RF T400-4, 1 ~ RF T600-2, 1 ~ RF T600-4 4 ~ CT Sounds 5.25" Strato comps (rear fill only) 1 ~ XS Power D4800 1 ~ XS Power D3400 8 ~ XS Power XP3000 160 stock alt, Mechman 370 Elite, 185 DC Power 320+ Sq. SilveradoGoesBang
Send me pics of all ur ground runs and a shot of ur ground from battery to alt, I'm like 90% sure I know ur problem. And yes it's basically a stock alt it will turn off alot for no reason, and can have voltage spikes if its not setup right. If you need I can talk u through it over the phone. Karkov
I'll take a video of everything under hood when i go back out to where my Tahoe is, pulled it into a air conditioned shop outside of town. 2007 Chevy Tahoe (SOLD) 12 ~ FI Audio X series 10" w/BP option 2 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @0.67 3 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @1.0 2 ~ PPI 3 way sets (not installed yet) 1 ~ RF T400-4, 1 ~ RF T600-2, 1 ~ RF T600-4 4 ~ CT Sounds 5.25" Strato comps (rear fill only) 1 ~ XS Power D4800 1 ~ XS Power D3400 8 ~ XS Power XP3000 160 stock alt, Mechman 370 Elite, 185 DC Power 320+ Sq. SilveradoGoesBang
Kk, how many ground runs do u have to ur alt? With the PCM controlled alt u can't only have one and you have to get Reid of the factory ground. It has to be a pure ofc run and has to run through the sensor. Is that how u have it setup ATM? You cannot! Do the regular big three or it will cause problems. Karkov
1 ground to the alt. it's a good ground to frame. 1 ground to battery, also ground good to frame. 1 power from alt to battery. factory ground in place as it was. 1 ground from body to frame. there is actually 2 grounds that were connected to factory battery, err 2 separate wires anyways, and then also 2 positive wires running to positive on battery, you can see that from picture up above. Ok, so get rid of factory ground. Everything aftermarket already is OFC wire. Factory ground to alt? Mine just had a plug and a positive, i think it's grounded by house/where it bolts in? Which sensor does what have to get run through? lol Also, yes unfortunately i did do standard bug 3 at this point. At this point I will try and take out the big 3 and have it back to factory wiring except leave Mechman and XS power battery in? I will still post vids./pics. of it later today. 2007 Chevy Tahoe (SOLD) 12 ~ FI Audio X series 10" w/BP option 2 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @0.67 3 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @1.0 2 ~ PPI 3 way sets (not installed yet) 1 ~ RF T400-4, 1 ~ RF T600-2, 1 ~ RF T600-4 4 ~ CT Sounds 5.25" Strato comps (rear fill only) 1 ~ XS Power D4800 1 ~ XS Power D3400 8 ~ XS Power XP3000 160 stock alt, Mechman 370 Elite, 185 DC Power 320+ Sq. Karkov
Otherwise with PCM controlled and internally regulated what would i have to buy to make it externally regulated? More than just a simple external regulator I would assume? Would i still have to alter the wiring? 2007 Chevy Tahoe (SOLD) 12 ~ FI Audio X series 10" w/BP option 2 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @0.67 3 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @1.0 2 ~ PPI 3 way sets (not installed yet) 1 ~ RF T400-4, 1 ~ RF T600-2, 1 ~ RF T600-4 4 ~ CT Sounds 5.25" Strato comps (rear fill only) 1 ~ XS Power D4800 1 ~ XS Power D3400 8 ~ XS Power XP3000 160 stock alt, Mechman 370 Elite, 185 DC Power 320+ Sq. Hellbilly429
I was gonna ask if the serpentine belt was slipping since the pulley on the new alt look to be smaller diameter than the stock alt, which could cause irratic or no charge, but then if that was the case you probably would've noticed a squealing noise 2018 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback (build in progress) NVX Sound Deadener (Front Doors) Stinger FAST Rings Stock Electrical SSA Evil 6.5's Front Speakers Stock rear speakers MB Quart ONX4.80 speaker amp Rockford Fosgate T-1500bdcp DC Level 4 12" D1 @ 2-ohm Box In Design Stage Stock RadioMy Build Log
