what is normal voltage drop? time for new alt?

Recommended Posts

solder myself... any and all wire

the resistance is minuscule... you have more resistance from the lug on the battery post than solder in the fucking lug

just solder your wire directly onto the posts

i have 2 runs of postive and negative... 0.00 voltage drop from front to back

0.00 from alt to front battery

You can solder directly to the post?

sure why not... get rid off all resistance! even if its so little it wont effect anything!

down rpping vanderbilt. 30 miles from victoria. i own the 3rd loudest setup here out of 3. but i did put together all 3 setups

so you mentioned that you have 0.00v drop from the front to back of your car... perhaps i have a bad ground some place then because just going 6 feet i have a 0.12V drop along the wire?

could.. i have all CCA wire aswell :D

each run is about 10 feet long

all soldered

big 3 done

resting (no load 0 voltage drop)

under load (amp on)

0 voltage change from from to back

fluke 115 used

im going to go grind off all my grounds right now and get some fresh connections then ill report back with my min/max voltage drops. my tweets and mids ground to the body so perhaps i want to ground them t the frame as well?

im going ot swap my factory alt wire with a 2GA while im out there. would i benefit from adding a new ground from the mount bolts of the alt housing to the neg terminals? should i run the new alt charging wire to one of the batteries or to the copper fuse block?

nothing, gutted
