And kyle - i guess dustcap is the wrong term... but the black aluminum circle that says rockford fosgate t2 isn't thecone. CRudy Posted June 27, 2013 Report Posted June 27, 2013 I feel like I've heard people call it an "inverted dustcap" but then again I'm probably wrong. Also my friend has an alpine with the same kind of "dustcap" and it would make a rattling noise or something at a high volume, so he took it back to bestbuy (where he purchased it from and had it installed) and they said he blew one of the voice coils? I'm sure your situation is different but i figured i'd put in some input haha
alaskanzx5 Posted June 27, 2013 Report Posted June 27, 2013 i had a t2 12 that i had a similar issue with. had it in a 3-3.5 cuft box ( dont remember for sure ) tuned to around 40hz. turned out it was a blown coil and i didnt realize it until i put a t1500.1 on it (big mistake in such a big box but live and learn) burnt that sub up real bad but oddly enough it was playing for a good 2-3 months like that until i put it in a 2cuft box tuned to 40hz slot port. after about 3 months in that box it started smoking like crazy. got it warrantied. the local shop i got it from just traded me out as rockford tech told them to. thats my own exp but was in way to big of a box for the power i was running. might not be the same issue your having but if it is i hope the place you got it from will warranty it. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.
