probillygun Posted July 1, 2013 Report Posted July 1, 2013 I bought a punch 150 "25 to life" brand new sealed in the box off Ebay and hooked it up, it did NOT sound as good as my punch 200ix that I have had for nearly 20 years! My question is, what new Rockford amps (If any!?) will sound as good (Or better?!) as my old punch 200 ix? I need new amps for a new build and would like to stick with Rockford but after hearing this punch 150 I have my doubts. I also talked with Desert audio (Authorized rockford repair center) about them and some of the old Rockford Engineers that work for them dont "Think much" of the 25 to life design. Sooooo...What new rockford amps (If any?!) have good SQ that are comparable to my old punch 200Ix?! Thoughts? Opinions? What about using the new power series? are they as good as my punch 200ix? better? worse?

I will take a new RF amp over an old one any day. the old shit has a special place in my heart, AND my boneyard.... something wrong with his settings or maybe even the amp itself imo. The guys at Desert audio said not to even bother sending it in because they typicaly sound that way and their top ex Rockford enginner there is not impressed with the design of the 25 to life units and he's worked on a lot of them.
probillygun Posted July 2, 2013 Author Report Posted July 2, 2013 I just compared my 17 year old punch 200ix straight up with my new $1200 Focal FPS 4160 and it sounds every bit as good as it. The new punch 150 25 to life sounds muddy compared to either of them.
