LT.Smoke
I know we have a shoot the breeze thread for guns and such... I figured i would throw one in the mix for the Bowhunt fanatics... I am sure taht some of you guys are big time Archery guys... This will be my 1st year bowhunting but I am stoked and raring to go... I purchased all my gear back on April 23rd which was the day after my birthday so essentially it was my self bought Birthday present.... I have been shooting every chance i get in my front yard trying to work on my mechanics and still working on getting my pins set and sighted in... I have been watching a shit load of bowhunting vids on youtube as well as recording as much material as I can from the sportsman channel on bowhunting expeditions and what not... Until i started shooting and actually watching a ton of clips on youtube and Tv i didnt honestly realize just how addictive Bowhunting can be as well as adrenaline pumping because you are up close and personal with your target of choice This will be the shoot the breeze type thread for Archery... Feel free to add anything from experiences to advice to photos of your gear etc Bowhunter's Prayer Heavenly Father,Here we are looking forward to yet another season hunting in your creation. Lord we have so many needs ... more so now as we find ourselves consumed with the season to come. This year I pray that You will help us to be thankful for every second we get to spend preparing and hunting the trophies that so consume us.Lord thank You for the mental ability to attempt to match wits with our prey.Thank You for the physical ability we have as well to chase our quarry.Thank you for the wind that messes us up and the one that keeps our scent away from that trophy that is on it's way to our shooting lane.Thank you for the rain that helps with scent control and the rain that keeps us home with the one(s) we love instead of the tree stand.Thank you Lord for the loved ones that wait at home ... some with baited breath to hear the story of the day's hunt and the ones that just want to see us and put up with our tales.Thank you for the animals we will get frustrated with, busted by,and the ones that get bested by us.Thank you for the safe climbs up and down the tree, the crossing creeks and rivers, the car drives too and from our "playground". Lord please keep all that enter your woods and field safe.Thank you mostly for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and the Salvation He provides thru His payment of our sin by His death on the cross and His resurrection 3 days later. Thank you for loving me, Jesus, when I didn't love you at all!! It is in Jesus name we pray, Amen!Let's get it on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ^^ This prayer was taken from one of the member's of Bowhunting.com which is a forum I am on... Not sure what else I need or what else would help me i hunt mostly in town, so i dont really worry about scent control. my favorite stand is 40 yards off I-16. people wave at me and honk the horn when they drive by, and people over at mcdonalds look as well. i kill more deer out of that stand than anywhere else i hunt. i dont have to worry about scent or noise. the deer just stand there completely oblivious to everything else. things you need will include a range finder, and a good climber stand. the summit stands are awesome. Lbox88
I haven't even touched my bow in years, it needs a serious overhaul. Anyways, started bowhunting and shooting competitively in 4H when I was 10, shot a deer at 12 years old on my first hunt and stopped there lol. Bow was set at something retarded low, like 23 or 25 lbs, arrow went in on one side between the ribs, took out the lungs and fell out the other side. Hmm, going to be out my parents way a month from now, think it's time to pick it back up and get restrung/re-sighted in. UBL | Build Log

bcpballer64
Need to get your stand now and get it out now so when the season hits its natural to the deer that it is there "The strongest reason for people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." -- (Thomas Jefferson)
Hugh G.
