Cooling fans? Do they actually work?

I have an Audison Voce 5.1k and recently it has started heating up and sometimes to the point where it makes the thermal light come on. it has started getting really warm where I live (90+ everyday) and the amp is in the trunk of my car. Will fans blowing air through the amp help at all? I don't know what else to try; I've had all the speakers unhooked and the amp still gets hot...

the air circulating around the fins will increase your coefficient of cooling..... it may feel hot, yes. But the fan is helping

for sure they do, if I didn't have them on my last setup I think I could have blown my amp. mb quarts like to run really hot in confined spaces lol once I get 2 12's in I'm going to throw a while bunch of fanses in

They worked for me. i had a Kenwood 9105d, which is notorious for heat issues. I had it wired down to 1ohm, which from what i can tell it's not rated to do. But the amp was in a rack and had two fans in a push pull setup. It would run full tilt and not overheat.

sweet! thanks for all the input. how many should I do now? At first I was thinking about putting two fans on one side of the amp and pushing air through it, but after I saw what strangeduck said about the push and pull I'm wondering is that the better way to go? Whats the best way you guys have found for keeping you amps cool?

Also I don't know if this could be part of the issue but, my ground wire is almost 40 inches long it's 1/0 awg and its bolted down using the seat belt bolt; I sanded away most of the paint but I was iffy on putting it there because of the length. My last ground I had I drilled through the trunk and within 2 months it started rusting and caused a bad connection.

please relocate the ground to a bolt that is directly tied to your chassis or frame. As far as how long, a ground wire can be as long as a power wire with no issues. For my car I have a ground going from my front battery. for the number of fans, a couple should be fine in a small setup, but the more amps you run and/or more power you run just add some more. and again, if it is a small setup, just blowing air into the amp should be fine. If it is a bigger setup you may benefit more from having a actual air flow, kind of like how pc's create a air flow inside the computer tower.

Can you show how the temp gauge works? and is a fan included? or just an input. Interested for sure!!
