how much clipping can a hdc3 12 take?

Depends on what size amp.

It could handle a square wave if it is only 25 watts.

Current system:

1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s

Previous systems:

2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz.

1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz.

Are you looking to push the amp into some clipping for SPL competition?

you gotta be really careless to blow that sub on that amp, even on a hard clip.

I clipped the hell out of my hdc315 when it was time for a recone and never blew it. I even played way below tuning while clipping and it still wouldn't blow. The coil still looked great too.
