Lanzar OPTI1233D Dual 1.2-Ohm - Final Impedance Wiring Options ... Help?

A friend picked up a pair of these 12" Lanzar's, but I have not been able to make it over to see them, but after some quick math, I believe he can either wire them & show an amp either .3-ohm or 4.8-ohms, ... correct?

Thanks if anyone had a moment.

Series/parallel for 1.2 ohms, amp dependent of course.

This amp ----> Audiopipe 3000.1d.

From the little bit-o-info I could find, it appears it is only 2-ohm stable.

Can I substitute the word "friend" for "acquaintance"? Then add how just buying pieces of equipment here & there based on "3000watts RMS!!!" max, et. al, etc., annoys me?

Thanks, Drifter, I you or anyone else gets back to me ...

The way I see it: there are 3 options:

1. Wire to 4.8 ohms, which I wouldn't suggest

2. Get another amp, which I also wouldn't suggest

3. Get a 1 ohm stable amp <---I'd go with this one

yeah, you are right, he cant wire down to 1 on that amp, he should ditch the AP amp...

those subs dont look bad, but high fs and I would LOVE to see one take 3k rms...I bet more like 1250-1500 daily a pair.

#3 is honestly what I told him to do. I appreciate everything.

As a last piece of info ... he has this to put the Lanzar's in ----> http://www.speakercityusa.com/Q-Power-QBOMB12VL-12-Inch-Speaker-Box-With-Spray-Coating-QBOMB12VL.htm

In a 2002 Grand Am.

He has a decent deck & a properly built Big 3 & dual AGM BATT setup, etc. ... It is just the woofer(s), amp, & enclosure stuff he went to a pawn shop & grabbed what looked cool ...

  • 3 months later...

yes thanks for the info! and yes i wonder how LONG they would push 3000 rms lmao! they are doing decent (to my likings) wired at 4.8ohm so that is around 600 rms. so yes i dont think they would do 2000rms or over for sure

if the car doesn't stall, you have enough voltage.
