Nick7186
I ordered a dual alt kit for my 06 Chevy silverado 1500 with 5.3L. My stock alt is a 2 prong harness. The kit came with a 4 prong harness. I want to add a stock alt but Im not sure what year model to order an alt for. I talked with a salvage yard and the guy said I would need an alt from a 96-00 but Im not to thrilled about buying a 17 year old alt. Anybody got any experience with this? http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/204255-nicks-06-silverado-4-evil-18s-161/

Nick7186
Thanks for the kind words there Orion Stang. I dont remember asking anybody how to hook anything up. The instructions are quite clear except for which alt to get. I have emailed DC and they told me to get a GM with a 4 prong. Sorry I asked if anybody had any experience which year models have what prong. Ill go get back on my short bus... http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/204255-nicks-06-silverado-4-evil-18s-161/

Guest DC Power Kyle
You can't run a 2 pin on a dual bracket because the PCM can't communicate to it. Thats why a 4 pin is required when running more than the stock alternator.
Nick7186
Ok.
