If its good it should "POP" if not, its bad. I was told to do this at a local audio shop.... Trunk Build Log

SPL2K Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 a 4 ohm coil rarely reads 4.0 its usually anywhere from 3.7 to 4.3 After you get your reading, touch your red and black lead together to get the actual resistance in the leads themselves then subtract that number from your voicecoil reading. If the numbers are all over the place while you are taking a reading, try turning the sub upside down (cone down). Even a light breeze, a fan, or ambient noise can affect your reading. tacomabanga1986 Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 a dmm is best used for checkin ohms of subs so ur independance aint to low so it dont mess anything up, and the 9v battery is best used for checkin witch speaker is witch and if they still work, usally when a sub blows the voice coil wire rips from the bottom and unravles and gets caught in the grooves witch causes the (welded offect and warps the voice coil witch causes it not to move, if it dont move then its blown or seased up, ive heared sometimes that if u leave subs settin to long they will start to sag some what n sometimes sease up but not a known fact that i kno of, if i was u ied use a 9v battery and if it pops its good and try pushin on it and it if moves freely without the scratchy sound its fine, hope this helps man and good luck here's a link to my system 99 toyota tacoma , 2 mtx 8000 1504's in a sealed downfire , 1000w memphis amp here's a link to my other system my 90 geo prizm test car heres a thread i got of new songs u can dl that are legal = Some Good Bangage/you Can Dl These Free And Legit
