Batterys draining quuuuuick

Recommended Posts

I have a 1400 Kenetic up front and one in the back. Stock alt.

When I first got them, the voltage stayed up nice.. Now, it's just dropping down to 10-11's super fast.

AQ2200 @ 1ohm btw. What can I do to fix this?

Tested alt and its fine. Big 3 done also.

Put the batteries on a charger overnight.

Load test the batteries the next day to verify their condition.

With the car off and batteries out, use a DMM on resistance and measure at the battery terminals.

Look for a parasitic low resistance which could be slowly draining your batteries.

If you have a current clamp meter, look around your electrical system for excessive currents (batteries re-installed).

First with the car completely off.

Then do the test with the ignition switch on and car not running.

Then do again with the car running.

How was the alternator verified?

Take your battery and shake it around for a few minutes, turning it on its sides back and forth. Then recharge it with a trickle charger. If the battery is good then check your grounds. You could have a bad amplifier. You may have a blown a fet causing it to pull all the votage from the battery.

I haven't changed my grounds though. So that shouldn't be a problem. It's grounded to the spare tire well.. Sanded of course.
