Wrapping wood with vinyl?

Alright, so I'm new to the whole beautification side of things and I had a few questions. Working on cutting out the rest of my trim pieces to seal the wall off and I'm wanting to wrap the wall and side pieces in vinyl.

1. Is this not recommended to do? I went to a craft store called Joann's with the gf earlier today and decided to gander over in the materials section...asked a few questions and a lady pointed me out some Forcefield brand Headliner trim & laminating adhesive that claims to bonds to plastic, wood, and metal. It's the high temperature spray can too which she said would be what I'd wanna use for a car application.

2. What do I need to know about wrapping things with vinyl? I tried googling how-to videos on this and searching the forums but all I managed to find was people wrapping trim pieces on their dashes and stuff like that, not the sorta stuff I'd be doing. If anybody has seen any videos that may be helpful that'd be awesome if you could post them up

3. Right now they're having a 40% off sale on the black vinyl that I think would look really good, bringing it down to $21 per yard (I think it's 72 inches across for the roll as well). I've never shopped at a Joann's or any sort of craft store before for that matter so I just want to make sure that I'm not going to be paying out of the ass for this?

It seems like really good material, but the sale's only for another week or so that's what I wanted to post this up and see if anybody's got any feedback for me. Thanks for reading as always, looking forward to seeing what some of you fabrication experts have to say!

Yes, you can wrap wood with vinyl. I did it to my box and door pods. The adhesive I use is DAP Weldwood. It was easy to work with, and is holding up well (throughout the end of a NY winter), and a humid summer.

My only advice for wrapping with vinyl is to be patient, and to use heat. I just used a hairdryer, and that worked perfectly.

Perfect! This is exactly what I was looking for. Do you remember where you picked up the adhesive and vinyl though? And how much they cost? I was all for picking up some to experiment with earlier but $40 just for a yard and some adhesive seemed a little expensive.

I just got the adhesive from Home Depot. Ive seen it at Lowes too. At Home Depot, it was just under $5 for like 3 or 4 oz. I regret not buying the "can." I went through like 5 of the little 3 oz jars.. which was like $25 total. The jar with 32oz of adhesive was like $10.

I was looking at different vinyl rolls online and in the store. I didnt notice any difference, so I bought some cheap stuff on Amazon. No regrets. It was stretchy, has a nice texture, and bends around the turns insanely easily with a little bit of heat. Damn that's cheap hdorre, do you have any pics of it installed? I didn't see a link to a build log or anything. I could easily get 4 yards of that to play with for the same price I could've gotten 1 yard of the Joann's stuff lol
