And the cooling fins aren't painted, just to clarify. Maybe a newer model, or a completly different one all together. LOL Hence why I asked for pics. but no worries, If its am3 am3+ is the same socket, and the same mounting Other then that if memory serves right, am3 supports the phenom 2 and athlon 2 chips, while am3 supports those chips and adds support for the fx series, and it is also what makes sli capable on amd boards again. All up for grabs btw The loop got my 2500k to 5.2 stable. I even lapped the CPU and it gained me a few degrees. Yea tinkering is fun, but when your not gaining and constantly restarting it gets annoying! LOL Im stable currently at 5.12ghz but I think Im not going to push it too much farther until something is done with the cooling. I was thinking about putting my thermalright back on here to try it and see if I can back up similar results, but that would require a lot of tinkering since once I got this together I went over to my moms house with a big box of parts and upgraded her. She is was very happy since I normally give her the old hand me downs, and my old old rig has been acting up on her for a few months now. Nothing too special pretty much my old pc in the same case unpainted with no side window, but for her POGO games, she is more then well set for a whille. I painted my case, black/white theme, kind of stormtrooper-esque. And the grills were red. beaker Posted August 26, 2013 Report Share Posted August 26, 2013 Hey, I'm not downplaying AMD by any stretch of the imagination. I'm pretty sure they hold the OC crown right now. AMD will beat intel in multithreaded benches, Intel seems to win in lower threaded ones, and the circle of life continues. I'm sure they'll be something out in a year thats twice as fast in both camps. I've just had better luck with intel, but everything else you mentioned parts wise, I use the same stuff. Currently waiting for the 1st of the month to get my tennants rent check, and deposit it in the bank on the 2nd, then order a ssd. Still leaning towards the Samsung 840Pro 256gb, or the 840EVO 250gb which is a good 70$ cheaper, but less iops. Hard decision so who knows which one Ill order yet. Did a little paint work to the non window side of the case, I painted it red a whille ago, and was thinking it was ok, but when I put this pc together I was thinking off setting the color would look nicer, so I sprayed it gloss black quick. So a couple pics of that, the befores can be seen previous in the thread. Also thinking about doing my hard drive tray too, well 2 of them one for the ssd of coarse once I get it. But not sure if I should do red or black. Probably black. Ohh and a random pic of a couple Koi I picked up today. The pinkish white one is about 18inches maybe a tad more, and anothher butterfly koi is the smaller multicolored white one, things look pretty cool once they get bigger.
