-X-RaTeD-
laptop i have roughly 13000 ppd and the tower i have a whopping 300 ppd. might put it on the other tower with amd fx8350 and msi raedon hd7970 i think it is. should i put it on that one? configure to run light when not in use. That 7970 is a really good card to fold on. Try adding the client-type advanced flag for that card's slot, some people report 60k+ PPD with that card pulling advanced WU's.I should probably edit the first post with some of the useful flags I was off by a series. I've got the 7870. Running gpu and cpu overclock. I'd fold on laptop cuz its actually more powerful but only can do it at home while plugged in. The 7870 is still good for about 40k on advanced WU's. The science appreciates any/all donations of computer time no matter how big or small. Fold on How can u get that? I'm only getting like 10k ppd from it. Ill check again but idk it seems really low for what they are. Here is a quote from Stanford's page. In short, you need to successfully return 10 WU's before you start getting bonus points. My bad, I forgot to mention that since I've folded before, it didn't cross my mind. http://folding.stanford.edu/home/faq/faq-points/ Bonus PointsThe prompt completion of Work Units (WUs) is very important for the science we’re doing. In order to study the proteins we’re interested in, we need be able get the results back quickly. A faster turnaround also means that we can launch projects that are larger and more difficult than ever before. So in 2010 we introduced the Quick Return Bonus (QRB), which gives extra points to users who rapidly and reliably complete WUs. The QRB has been fairly successful in aligning points with scientific value, and we will continue to use it. What are the qualifications for the QRB?The bonus is applied for users who use a passkey, have successfully returned at least 10 bonus-eligible WUs, successfully return 80% or more of assigned WUs, and return the unit before its Timeout (formerly Preferred Deadline). Bonus points do not apply to partial returns. When I hear music, I fear no danger. I am invulnerable. I see no foe. -X-RaTeD-
This kind of started out as a thread to gauge interest, I should make a thread with a load of FAQ's, tips, guides and more concentrated info for those that may want to join. Hopefully I'll have time for that this weekend. Fold on. When I hear music, I fear no danger. I am invulnerable. I see no foe. Any bit helps though Lookin good When I hear music, I fear no danger. I am invulnerable. I see no foe. beaker
it looks like its running on both GPU's but that doesn't make sense, because two 470's are defiantly way faster than a 580.

And tower is doing way better after adding the advanced client type. Running at 58.5k ppd on it now. -X-RaTeD-
Unfortunatly there are not any really useful flags that the average consumer CPU would benefit from. Just the standard advanced client type, use a passkey for QRB's, etc. The big points with this new Core 17 client are making GPU's shine more than CPU's unless you are running servers, the bigadv flag for CPU's requires atleast a 16 core system. KiKaZz74
So is it just my gpu that sucks? I've got a quad core i7 at 8 threads doing 16-20k ppd and quadro k1000 doing 6-10k ppd. But the tower I've got amd fx 8350 8core doing 7k ppd and msi raedon 7870 doing 50k ppd. Does that all seem right?
