Answer Alexa's traffic rankings are based on the usage patterns of Alexa Toolbar users over a rolling 3 month period. A site's ranking is based on a combined measure of reach and pageviews. Reach is determined by the number of unique Alexa users who visit a site on a given day. Pageviews are the total number of Alexa user URL requests for a site. However, multiple requests for the same URL on the same day by the same user are counted as a single pageview. The site with the highest combination of users and pageviews is ranked #1. meade916 Posted February 28, 2008 Author Report Share Posted February 28, 2008 i understand that but you still dont need to use any sort of toolbar....i didnt do ANYTHING and my site just started showing up. I found out about it on accident. regardless it STILL measures webtraffic on your site and is a good indicator of how its doing. If its not perfect, thats fine its still rough estimate. Same with those other pages on those links. If im 160k on Alexa and say 300k on snapshot my numbers arent the only ones that are off, everyone elses will be too. Its like two people metering on a shitty mic. If they both meter on the same day, same mic, even if its off you still get RELATIVE numbers.....like ok today i did a 155 and the other guy did a 150. We get on a harder mic and my number goes down to 150.....well that sucks but that other guy did a 145 so its still relative. anyway it dont matter, Alexa Shlamexa, i still get major hits...... meade916 Posted February 28, 2008 Author Report Share Posted February 28, 2008 it could be built into invision but what would that have to do with the site itself? www.stevemeadedesigns.com/forum (for example) doesnt show up on alexa, but my actual site does (actually every page you click on my site shows up just as my site). It also did with that free forum shit i had when i first started the site. either way, with or without it, i still get the traffic so it doesnt matter that much.....it will show to someone wanting to buy a banner that i can get exposure and thats what its for.. I know yopu want to keep it FREE membership.. but one way i know you could just WORK and not worry about how much you are spending or how much eveyrthing is costing you. i think it is time to raise the anny.. even if it is 5.00 a month per member.. but have a perk to it.. broze member silver member gold member.. .. say gold is 50.00 a yr or something and if people sign up as a gold member give them a t-shirt or a Smd sticker or soemthing. a hat or a beanie. i am not saying give them your most expensive t-shirt.. just a black shirt that says smd on it or something you know.. you will be surprised how many people sign up i think. i know i would.
