soundstream15 Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 So I changed out my mechman alt bc something was wrong with it. So put back in my old alt, started car up and it was reading 12v. Well the stock harness plug was bad so that's why. Got that fixed and front battery is reading 14v and my rear battery is reading low 12s why? I know I was running my car off the batteries when the mechman was bad, didn't notice it was bad. So prob running like that for a few days. But now that everything is working I would assume the rear battery should be fine. Do I just need to throw it on the charger, is it completely dead?

You can stick the positive probe into the wire if that makes things easier. Sergeant_Skyrim Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 After you do that separate the batteries so that the lower resting one doesn't hurt the higher one and then put it on the charger. Seems kinda similar to the situation I had when the front fuse between my batts was loose and started arc'ing til it melted the fuse holder. Then back battery didn't get charged and started draining the front Build in progress

When I first started my car with my stock alt. my rear battery was reading high 12s low 13s and when I would give It gas It would go to 13.5 and come back down to low 12s. Then only way to work it just stayed in low 12s. Was between 12.1 -12.4
