tburt915 Posted September 24, 2013 Report Posted September 24, 2013 Box will be for two 12in fi ssds to run from a sundown saz1500d on 1 ohm. max dimensions are 30w 16.5h and 24d. I have made 2 designs but im not sure if they are worth a shit. Box 1: 30x16.25x23 tuned to 33 hz 4.426 cubes with 55 sq in of port. Planning on putting the port in the middle between the subs. port is 3.75x14.75 and 18in long Box 2: 30x16.25x24 tuned to 32 hz 4.37cubes with 59 sq in of port planning on subs facing the cabin and port firing to one side port is 4x14.75 and 22in long can anybody tell me the pros and cons of these two designs? Or if anybody has something better in mind? My main goal is sql and the car is a 2007 honda accord ex-l
Joe X Posted September 24, 2013 Report Posted September 24, 2013 Fire forward and seal off is the better bet.
JamieHoward Posted September 24, 2013 Report Posted September 24, 2013 I am also a fan of forward sealed. Hate trunk still rattling after 10 tons of deadener.
tburt915 Posted September 24, 2013 Author Report Posted September 24, 2013 The first box would work for the sealed off but with the subs being 12.5 in in diameter the subs would be barely fit on the front of the box. Would that be ok? since toe box can only be 30 in then the subs be 25in then the port almost 4 that would leave me with 1 in left.
john253a Posted September 24, 2013 Report Posted September 24, 2013 I see centre port is the first 1 And 3 common wall is 2nd I do 3 common wall At 30-35hz up To 5net or as close as you can get to it as 750 a sub is where you want to be for 2.5net each Also try to get the port area 60-65sq"
tburt915 Posted September 25, 2013 Author Report Posted September 25, 2013 when i got my amp tested it said it was putting out around 1900 rms so each sub would get almost full power. 5 cubes might be too big as those were just about my max diminsions. and john253a did you say you reccommend the second design over the first?
john253a Posted September 25, 2013 Report Posted September 25, 2013 i prefer 3 common wall ported boxes if 1 amp or strapped amps are used and a 2 common wall (centre port) where separate amps are used unless your sealing off trunk and want port aiming a ski hole
Joe X Posted September 25, 2013 Report Posted September 25, 2013 The first box would work for the sealed off but with the subs being 12.5 in in diameter the subs would be barely fit on the front of the box. Would that be ok? since toe box can only be 30 in then the subs be 25in then the port almost 4 that would leave me with 1 in left. As you say you have 5" to play with which is more than enough, the cutout for the subs is well below 12.5" so no issues. Bear in mind how much power you will be using to determine your box specs, your port area seems rather low.
tburt915 Posted September 26, 2013 Author Report Posted September 26, 2013 I purchased box plans from dave the box guy so hopefully he can design me a good box with in my max dimensions which are 30w 16.5h and 25d
thefourth Posted September 26, 2013 Report Posted September 26, 2013 Another classic ask for help and ignore it? Lol Thanks alaskanzx5 I might just do thatI can recone a sub myself. About a year ago I took 2 12" power acoustic mofos and made one sub. I took the magnet and the motor off of one and j b welded it to the other motor and magnet. I had to wind my own voice coil so it would work. After I was done hooked up to 2 boss 5000w amps. And shattered my back and all my side windows came to this thread to recommend soundqubed and ct sounds. OP goes with soundstream. oh lawd.
