TheMonolith2001 Posted October 17, 2013 Author Report Posted October 17, 2013 Yeah I think I would rather use real sound deadener and then buy that stuff for touch up spots or something. I'm sure it works but it probably depends on how bad the problem is to begin with. If I had to guess it's probably pretty good for making plastic parts heavier if you keep layering it on but not so much metal. That tubing is a great idea though. Easily removable if I run into problems too.
BassInMyBLood Posted October 18, 2013 Report Posted October 18, 2013 they make some that have an adhesive on the part that is open and some that don't its up to you. if that makes any since. AQ - SQ For Life
KickersintheTrunk Posted October 18, 2013 Report Posted October 18, 2013 I know this is kind of late to reply but I have heard of getting that foam tube piping cover stuff (http://www.homedepot.com/p/Armacell-1-in-x-6-ft-Tubolit-Self-Seal-Foam-Pipe-Insulation-OES11838/100565309#.UlGHCybD81I) and put it on your rubber seal it should create a little more cushion between the hatch and your car. and I would definitely use some sound deadener. it helps a whole bunch. if you want some cheap sound deadener I would use this (http://www.lowes.com/pd_154017-81326-PS625_0__?Ntt=peel+and+seal+roofing&UserSearch=peel+and+seal+roofing&productId=1018733&rpp=32). and it works just as good as all those other sound mats. Would that peel and seal stuff be good to line your trunk with to stop rattling? Check out my Youtube channel www.youtube.com/user/ologiic

Guest Posted October 19, 2013 Report Posted October 19, 2013 peel and seal fucking sucks money dick. its MADE FOR THE ROOFS OF HOUSES. not for your friggin car. somebody did a test of that stuff vs second skin damplifier pro and they found out that it took like 5 layers of PnS to equal the deadening properties of one layer of damp pro. the cost was equal i think. want cheap good deadener? audiotechnix. oh, and if you want to take PnS off, good luck getting the brown residue off the paint from the asphalt based adhesive. it will stay there forever.

Don't cheap out and get that crap, there are some decent priced deadeners out there like audio technix, stinger, etc. second skin is really good but in no way cheap. I would definitely put sound deadener on entire trunk. and if you have that spoiler/wing on trunk I would try to take it off and put either foam, rubber, or even sound deadener on the spot where it comes in contact with trunk. but not 100% positive because I have never had to deal with that. Also you might want to deaden the back dash, I did and it does help. and put a foam sheet or deadener on license plate. they like to rattle. AQ - SQ For Life
