TheMonolith2001
So I have a Jeep Cherokee (XJ) Here are a couple pictures so you know what I am talking about, not mine but yeah: The issue I am having is with the rear hatch and making it STFU. When I play really low bass notes loudly it sucks the rear hatch in and out quite a bit. You can hear the latch slamming back and forth so hard that I seriously think it is going to break soon. Even if it doesn't it is a really loud clicking I want to stop. For some annoying reason it is not adjustable, I cannot move it back and forth to get it to hold the hatch closed tighter. My first idea was to fill the hatch with something really really heavy. I could put a shit load of deadener and maybe even a couple bricks in there or something. This would probably work but there is no way in hell I would be able to keep the hatch open. My second idea was to maybe stuff something in between the box and the hatch door that would put pressure on it and push it outward. If I could create the right level of resistance It could even let it move a little but not enough to make it click. I even messed around with the idea of putting some kind of spring with padding on the end mounted to the front of the box that would do just this. I guess I could test this idea by stuffing a ton of clothes or something in between that gap and seeing if it does anything with enough crap stuffed in there. I am worried about how this would effect the sound though because with sub up port back I am probably getting kind of a folded horn effect. I suppose that could go either way though. My third idea was to get some of the rubber seal stuff that goes around the end of the hatch and then doubling or tripling it up. Like just put another layer on top of what is already there or on the opposite surface. This should create a tighter seal and I can't really think of a drawback to this. If done right it shouldn't leak or anything. Any other ideas? I have never dealt with this issue before.

SnowDrifter
Deadener to make it strongerFoam to stop the plastic panels from slapping against eachotherWeather stripping around the seals to put some pressure on it. Should help with the latch a bit Did it to my car. Hatch is whisper quiet You could also cut the hatch apart and reinforce it with a big solid piece of MDF. ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444

BassInMyBLood
I know this is kind of late to reply but I have heard of getting that foam tube piping cover stuff (http://www.homedepot.com/p/Armacell-1-in-x-6-ft-Tubolit-Self-Seal-Foam-Pipe-Insulation-OES11838/100565309#.UlGHCybD81I) and put it on your rubber seal it should create a little more cushion between the hatch and your car. and I would definitely use some sound deadener. it helps a whole bunch. if you want some cheap sound deadener I would use this (http://www.lowes.com/pd_154017-81326-PS625_0__?Ntt=peel+and+seal+roofing&UserSearch=peel+and+seal+roofing&productId=1018733&rpp=32). and it works just as good as all those other sound mats. 03 Xtreme Fosgate
As already stated above, get some "real" sound deadener and foam it,that should take care of the problem.
