afrakes Posted September 29, 2013 Report Posted September 29, 2013 Anybody had experience with their oversized 1/0? Pictures make it look very flexible but I'm not sure if that's being exaggerated or not. Looking into their big 3 kit. pioneerforlife Posted September 29, 2013 Report Posted September 29, 2013 Audio Technix wire is very good wire. I have not had any experience with it but they make some great wire. if you want to look at another company there is also Sky High car audio wire. both are very good. 2007 Ford Focus SES Hatchback Pioneer HU 4 Digital Designs 9515i's in a B pillar. 2 Soundstream XXX 15K's (running at 16 volts) Soundstream Mids/Highs in custom door panels (getting rebuilt soon) Soundstream TA2.160 and TA2.400 Sky High and KNU wiring 3 Banks of Maxwell caps Winston Lithium (not a fan) Bump4Life 250 Amp Alt. aka USAlternators Soundstream Focus and Avenger Build Log Instagram @p4linnovation YouTube: Team Blowin Loud
afrakes Posted September 29, 2013 Author Report Posted September 29, 2013 I know of sky high, knu, etc. just curious because that wire is 70% aluminum. Never used aluminum wire an want to make sure it's good for a big 3, 220 amp alternator is on the way. genesis Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 You're taking about cca wire. Audiotechnix ofc is.. ofc. I use AT wire, and I love the wire, but im not sure I love the casing. It stretches odd. Hard to describe, honestly. Either way, its worth the money. Cca vs ofc is another debate, and im not touching it.
Rmichael91 Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 Audio Technix actually has ofc, cca, and a hybrid line if I recall correctly. They're also changing company names so a lot of it is just overflow stock. Yes the wire jacketing is weird but its a pvc material. Ofc conducts better than cca or the 70% aluminum/30% copper hybrid they offered (might be the other way around on the hybrid). Electricals a key role, even though all the runs are short, I wouldn't skimp out on it. Aluminum also runs hotter vs copper, combined with engine heat and current alone I'd prefer to not have wire melt on me. I've seen 1/0 catch melt and catch at a show, sketchy feeling and it wasn't even my vehicle.
walwalka Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 I used all Audio Technix wire in my build, I love the wire. The casing is weird like others have said, but it's not a deterrent for me. Always go OFC, there is no point in skimping on this very thing that makes your amplifiers work. 2010 Honda Civic LX / Deck: Kenwood DDX371 / Front Highs: Crescendo RTS-1 / Front Mids: Silver Flute 6.5's / 4 channel: DC Audio 90.4 / Sub: Fi 15in SP4v2 / Sub amp: Taramps HD 5000 / Power wire: Knukonceptz OFC 1/0 / Deadener: Audio Technix 60 mil / Batteries: XS Power D5100R / Rear bank: TBD / Alternator: Singer 240a hairpin
graham0599 Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 I used AT cca wire and its awesome! Super flexible! I had to use 2/0 lugs for 1/0 wire though to fit with out trimming wire. My 350z build- http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/174424-2008-350z-build/page-2?hl=%2B350z+%2Bbuild#entry2605678
genesis Posted October 1, 2013 Report Posted October 1, 2013 Uggg I hate this stupid debate.. over and over And over. Poster 1: use cca its cheaper, you can double up Poster 2: use ofc, my buddies uncles dog saw cca melt at a show. Poster 1: nuh uh, ur da stupidz. My cousins daughter is running cca in her barbie jeep and its fine Poster 2: (links idiotic biased youtube video) Poster 1: lolz that video only shows that you lick dog asshole to get high! And on and on. For fucks sake guys give it a rest. Bottom line is at is good wire, whether you get ofc cca or any hybrid they have. If your current demands indicate that you can safely run cca, and your budget agrees, get cca. If your current demands and budget allow for copper, get ofc.
Omega5002 Posted October 1, 2013 Report Posted October 1, 2013 I used the oversized hybrid 1/0 for the big 3 in my Volvo, very good wire. 2003 Kia Sorento Team Subsonic LowsTeam Bassin' on a Budget2016 Rebuild Under Construction Best score: 150.2 at 40hz (3k, 2 Custom HDC3 15's) Usaci style(door open, in the kick)
