Reed Farrar Posted October 6, 2013 Author Report Posted October 6, 2013 If you want sound quality go with a t-line and use two x-10s. Not that larger subs can't sound good but because of the space you have available. i just wish i could find a design. i thought about making a t-line for my e8v3 a while back but never did it. i like t-lines but i never completely understood what makes them sound that good. is it cause the port is so long? Well, there isn't really a port in a t-line because there is really no box for a port to go into. The entire box is the port, as it were, so there is no acoustical suspension to speak of and the line length is dependant (normally) on the driver's Fs. As far as designing them goes, a ¼ wave t-line is the easiest box you can design, from a calculations perspective but the hardest to design from a "fitting it in that space" perspective. The reason being that you essentially have to stuff an eight or nine foot long tube into a small space. Here is a tutorial on ¼ wave t-lines... here is a thread I made on a couple I've built and here are a few videos of one of them doing work. I've since ripped out the back seat and am now running two Zv3 15s in a line on ~2800 watts and it sounds fantastic. I listen to a lot of rock music also and there is plenty of tight, fast upper sub bass response from them as well as cabin shaking lows. I'll try to get a video of the new one today, although it is far from being finished. damn you have some nice boxes. i kinda just wanna stick with the regular L ported box cause those things need alot of space and i dont think i could fit a t-line. or maybe a aero port but i have never built a aero ported box. whats your opinion on that? on most videos i have seen there using aero ports so idk. so many choices hah

All of the drivers you've mentioned have an Fs in the thirties, so a t-line would be short (about 8') for them. Also, the line area is dependent on the Sd of the driver so two tens wouldn't make for a lot of line area. In fact, one 12 would make for even less line area and with the space you've mentioned, I see no problems with fitting. But as far as ports go, aeros definitely perform well and keep the port noise to a minimum. But then, a correctly sized kerfed port will too. Only thing I wouldn't recommend for a high powered box would be PVC... simply because of the blunt ends. In the end and from the perspective of audible distortion (port noise) a properly sized kerfed port will sound and perform just as good as an aero port. The only benefit to aeros is that you can change tuning a lot easier. Facebook: facebook.com/audioanarchyllc Instagram: audioanarchyllc Youtube: youtube.com/bbeljefe
Krakin Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 Aero-ports are more efficient than regular slot ports. But don't think you can skimp out on port area because then you are just making them useless at that point. Also make sure you either buy flared ports or make the PVC flared yourself. The amount you flare the port is just as important as flaring the port in the first place. You can refer to this link on how to make your ports flared based on the port area. Make sure you read through all of it, as there is plenty of great information in there. http://www.subwoofer-builder.com/flares-25mm.htm The problem with them is securing them in place so they don't vibrate with the music. I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.

I wouldnt make a pvc port that just looks kinda ghetto to me plus there not as good as a real aero port. overal i just want the best sounding box but its so hard finding a box design and it so hard to make one.

Nevermind i didnt know you could make ports like that out of pvc pipe. They look professional
Krakin Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 I was about to say did you even look at the link? Cableguy on here is a very successful SQ competitor with PVC ports, has multiple bends and tuned to 22hz.
