so with no bass boost on and max gains on the amp and +4 to sub volume on the deck; the sub gets about as loud as my 350W 15" home stereo sub. maybe a bit deeper but volume is close to the same. cone movement has next to zero excursion. what should my next step be here?

nothing, gutted

Turn the gain down, set the dub to 0 or (-) on the deck.

To set the gains you need an oscilloscope, DD1, if nothing else a DMM.

Post some pictures of the enclosure it is in. Preferably to where we can see the port on the inside.

Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist?

I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . .

What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself

but what has drawn your attention

in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums

An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space

Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears,

thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.

Also post some pictures of how you wired the sub.

Seems like you wired it up instead of down, or might have the coils backwards.

next question: Input Gain Control: The input gain control is not a volume control. It matches the output of the source unit to

the input level of the amplifi er. Turn the source unit up to about 3/4 volume (if the source unit goes to 30, turn it
to 25). Next, slowly turn (clockwise) the gain on the amplifi er up until you can hear audible distortion, then turn it
down a little.
from kickers manual. so i want to use the gain to match 4.1V? sense thats what my RCA's are putting out right? how can i measure this to be the case, assume i do not want to tune by ear.
"Remote Bass-ZXRC: With the ZXRC remote bass level control, you have the ability to control the output
level of the amplifi er remotely. To mount the ZXRC remote bass level control, simply screw the metal bracket to
the chosen location, then slide the housing onto the bracket until it snaps into place. Run the cable from the
controller to the “Remote Bass” jack on the amplifi er chassis."
also direct from kickers manual. what does this remote knobb change? i can use this to get the volume i am looking for from the sub but is this a gain control or bass boost control?

awww a video just for me :D.

i did my grinding in one go but i was told not to use a grinder as i did not want to make any marks on the basket. i used a wire wheel on mine.

i think on my Fi the vent holes were right next to the gap, if they were not then i dont think i covered them.

when i shimmed my cone it did stay up but it did not sit as smooth as your did. it would fall a bit to one side. i had 4 sets of 2 manila envelopes that were cut into 1.5" wide strips.

my bead of CA was a bit globier than yours but i had sprayed the basket before laying the glue... i laid the glue with the sub already in the gap and then tried to press it all down together.

i had my glue down and spider on in about 30 or so seconds. you spent WAY more time than i thought i had with the glue. i was also rushing ot get the clamps on and a couple of them slid off and moved things around.

I went bolt hole to bolt hole with my surround. this left high and low spots on it as i moved around. it was about 12 min spend glueing the surround down.

i put the dust cap on the same way you did in the video.

my spiders came to more of an edge than the ones in your videos, i had some beads of CA around my spider, the glue was not as smooth as yours is.

nothing, gutted
