afrakes Posted October 8, 2013 Report Posted October 8, 2013 So I have a stock 4x6 speaker location on my dash, and I want to put a 4" driver and a tweeter in there rather than a 4x6 coaxial. I have been looking for a speaker adaptor plate to fit this, but have found none for a 4x6 location at all. Is there a material I can use besides glassing a custom set? Thanks in advance! mrd6 Posted October 8, 2013 Report Posted October 8, 2013 ^this, just build your own out of wood but be sure to seal it up. The wood/mdf will rot when it gets wet. Fiberglass resin works well for this, but you could also use something like pladtidip or a water proof paint... My Build Log: http://www.stevemead...-sundown-power/ Team NorthWestSPL

Even if I used 1/4 in MDF there wouldn't be enough room to mount the speaker and still have my dash on top, at least not with the excursion of the speaker. There woul be rubbing. I did the math and I would have about 1/16 of an inch between the surround of the speaker and the plastic dash. And the dash is one thing I donot want to cut. Ben Fultz Posted October 8, 2013 Report Posted October 8, 2013 You could also reverse mount the speakers if you have the depth below the speakers.
