Buss bars vs. wire runs

Quick question regarding how I should connect all of my batteries when I get them...

Short runs of wire vs. Aluminum buss bars. What are the pros and cons of both. I'm going to be connecting 5 or 6 batteries in the trunk and I'm wondering how I should go about it. From my understanding it'd be a lot cheaper just doing small 6 or 8 inch runs of wire between each of the posts. Mainly because I don't know how I'd go about making the buss bars. Is this something I can go get done at an audio shop or something I could possibly do myself? Anybody here made some and have any tips?

short runs of wire I think would be cheaper and faster.

You need more expensive tools/expertise for bus bars.

Just check in at TM metalworks and see if he can make something up for you... or just contact a local machine shop and get a quote.

all you need is some aluminum bar stock, a drill, drill bit of proper size, nuts, bolts and washers of proper size.

its pretty easy actually..

go to you youtube and look at steves tahoe rebuild. he builds some buss bars on one of the videos and it'll give you a good ideal of how to do it.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, my only worry would be messing up measurements or not doing them correctly and being slightly off. I feel like if I had them done by somebody too I'd prefer they took the measurements. Will check into machine shops.

Another idea I had was just doing some SHCA 2/0. 20 lugs would be $46 and 10 feet of wire would be the same...and would still be plenty thick I feel like

Its not too tough to make your own. Took me about an hour this past weekend, made bars for 6 xp3000s. I used my drill and drill bits. Just measure carefully, not too much to it.

About how much did that run you? I was looking to run 5 or 6 group 31s. And how thick were they? Just trying to see what would be more cost effective here

The Lowe's near me had 1/2" thick aluminum stock in 4 ft lengths for $12 each. I just drilled for each battery post and used those places to connect wires. It worked great!

That actually seems like it'd be way cheaper haha. Appreciate the help!

I just did buss bar tonight for 5 batcap4000.way way easier then crimping and soldering wire.

When drilling aluminium center punch a hole start with small pilot bit ,maybe 1/8. finish off with a drill size couple size bigger of battery bolt.
