rubbernutz1 Posted October 18, 2013 Report Posted October 18, 2013 just wanted to git every ones opinion on what they think about a 3.5" aluminum cone mid maybe coming out in the future. i havent seen many myself out on the market that are a good quality and really none with a aluminum cone. all the 1s i ever seen were either paper cone or carbon or fiberglass, ect. but any ways what you guys think?
poorfish88 Posted October 18, 2013 Report Posted October 18, 2013 It looks like it's made great, but the problem is it's still only 3.5. This is just my opinion but I like my mids to be 5.25 on bigger.
CleanSierra Posted October 18, 2013 Report Posted October 18, 2013 Is it a full range or made to go in a 3 way component set? Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
rubbernutz1 Posted October 18, 2013 Author Report Posted October 18, 2013 made in mind to go in a 3 way set up, or for A pillar pods, or even home theater set ups. lots of stuff you can do with a smaller mid like this
Facekicker Posted October 18, 2013 Report Posted October 18, 2013 Don't know the details on the one pictured, how does it compare to the TB stuff on Parts Express? Some of them are pricey but again, don't know what I'm comparing them to. I've used these in a home built cabinet, and I know people run them in cars: They say 4 but they are a 3.5" http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=264-903 There's a bunch of others for less, I've used some Dayton Audios before that were surprisingly good too. I guess I'm asking what exactly makes these special? edit: mb i was thinking it was full range. still - there are a million flavors of small midbass drivers on there too. 2002 Monte Carlo Started a build log Fi, DC, Mechman, XS Power
rubbernutz1 Posted October 18, 2013 Author Report Posted October 18, 2013 idk bout a comparison yet. but they do have aluminum cones and not just a shiney coating on paper. price would very likely be WAY less then the 1 in the previous linked 1. just something i havent seen much of out there. yes theres a shit ton of 3" and 3.5" and 4" mids but not many that are aluminum. most are paper coned and the 1s that are either carbon or kevlar or fiberglass coned are expensive as hell
john253a Posted October 18, 2013 Report Posted October 18, 2013 Does it contain the harshness as many alloy teeters as far as an sq setup
rubbernutz1 Posted October 18, 2013 Author Report Posted October 18, 2013 idk yet waiting to get them in my hands to check it out. they were just made and i guess we will see
