Lazyboy Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 Im getting 2x RE Audio XXX15D2 Subwoofers and I am at a loss for good mono amps to power them, Extra batteries and alternators are not a problem, So I was wondering if someone on the SMD forums could suggest good amps to run these beauties for some hard hitting notes.
Soccerballzs Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 How about the new ZTX 5000.1 RE Audio. john253a Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 Some options But you should have d4 to run 1ohm final And used either a 3500@1 or 4k@1 Now you need something doing 3-4k@2 or 2 amps doing that strapped 2 strapped http://www.soundqubed.com/Q1-2200D_p_31.html For under $1k and close to 4.5k 2 strapped http://www.emfcaraudio.com/sundown-audio-saz-2500d-v2/ For $1500 2 strapped http://www.dcsoundlab.com/2k.html $12-1500 There are a heap of other options And you need to consider them as well And also consider getting d4 if you haven't already ordered, as you'll be closer to 1k for amp options Have you also looked at other options of subs As there are more then a few other options in the same price range as the xxx and many are also cheaper
Lazyboy Posted October 22, 2013 Author Report Posted October 22, 2013 See my sound system knowledge isnt the best, I mean shit, my last sound system, Was 2 12" kicker comps with a ZX350.1 powering it, So im going for quite a step up, I was thinking either RE or Kicker subs, But I am open to suggestion, Im in Australia btw so it has to be able to be shipped here
finkster Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 Get 2 dual 4 ohm subs and any amp that will do 4000 watts at 1 ohm. Sundown 3500 would work. DAT 4125------>RE XXX comps active Eclipse cd7000 I serve drunks for a living
CleanSierra Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 How about the new ZTX 5000.1 RE Audio. At 1 ohm. You can't run D2 subs at a final ohm load of 1 ohm. You can either run .5 ohms, or 2 ohms. That's also a 2500W( on its best day) amp. So the decision has to be made if you want to run, or if you're ABLE to run .5 ohms, or if you're going to choose 2 ohms. If half ohm, something like the Crescendo BC3500. If 2 ohm, something like a DC5K or similar powered amp. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
CleanSierra Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 John is also in Australia, so he'll be able to help you out. The suggestions I made likely well NOT work for you. As previously mentioned, it would be easier in your wallet if you choose D4 subs and that way you can run your amp at 1 ohm. Most apps, aside from a few, put out their max power at 1 ohm rating. You still have many more options if you go with Dual 4 ohm coils a opposed to D2 coils. Do you have a good price that you found the RE XXX subs for? If not, others(brabds)are available for likely cheaper that perform as well or far better. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
john253a Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 Have you even got quotes on the xxx 15 for shipping Your going to pay 1.2x because of the $$$ at the moment for it and shipping is going to be close to 1000 us for 2 So without amp you'll be 2.5-2.8k au at your door for thoes subs and there just not worth that much For shipping to au The only companies have had good secures with are sonic and woofertec for a wide verity of products There are other companies I have used like sq audio who give a 20% discounts off list to aust customers to cover postage where they list free postage Fi audio is good prices but they use a expensive shipping company and you'll wait 4-7 months for you product to arrive Audio savings is the cheapest for shipping but quite ofteren get the detailed wrong like d2 instead of d4 coils And all have no warrant outside of USA and if wrong offer no cost in shipping to send back I got a 2 single 1ohm subs sent to me I steed of 2ohm and it was cheaper to buy again and cover shipping then the cost of shipping there and back
john253a Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 Pm me if you want more info on where and who will send to au Because most won't send re out of the us And there are also a lot of other brands that can't be sent into in the aus
