Rick Griffin
I am looking at putting a dc 5.k on my dc lvl 5 in a bmw 5 series. Only h/o alt I can find is a 280 amp (and no, mechman, or dcpower don't have any) my question, would a 280 amp alt and a couple good kinetic batteries be enough to run the amp at 5k watts 14vs? Kyblack76
Holding 14 is all but impossible. Unless you charge higher and run 14v bats. It's ok. Most run sub 13. Don't trip. 5k will still do work. The alt, I myself, have never heard of. Is it reliable ? SnowDrifter
Haven't heard of that alt either. Have you emailed Singer? Maybe he could throw something together for you. And as KyLar said, don't freak about seeing battery voltage. Low 12s / high 11s are nothing to worry about. Lots of people battery bank their car because they can't find an alt. Play at that all day without an issue. Makes sense too. Amps have a working voltage range. So long as you are within that range it's fine.
