dc 5k amp, would a 280v h/o alt and a couple batteries run me at 5k watts?

Mike Singer. The man makes alts. Seems to do well with picking up the "slack" if DC or Mechman doesn't make anything for you

Yes you will get less power from your amp. That's just part of the deal, unfortunately.

I think 5 series have rear mounted batteries. Easier battery bank that way... Singer is the man when it comes to odd alt's. If he has one for my Volvo, which he does, damn near GUARANTEE he can hook you up with your BMW. If you're not a fan of a lot of batteries, a 3100 or 3400 to replace your factory battery, and a 7500 could probably work really well for you.
