a21cuda
....then why did you post a thread asking what your headunit clips at if you have a DD-1 and found out yourself anyways? Did I miss something? In the original post I said that I wanted to see if I could find out where it clips at without pulling the dash and measuring it but after reading stuff on here and other things on the internet, I found that some people's kenwood excelons clip at 35, some clip at 28, some clip at 32, there was so many different numbers that I just decided to do it myself. CleanSierra
My last eXcelon was clean at 35/35 with +15 on the subwoofer out. My most recent Kenwood KDC(non eXcelon) was also clean the same way, 35/35 and +15 on sub out. My eXcelon had 5V preouts and my last KDC had 2.5V outs. I'm currently on a JVC(made by Kenwood) with 4V pre outs and have yet to throw the DD1 on it. I'll report on it when I find out. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you. Mikey Bates
if it goes to 35, it either clips at 34 or 35, sometimes they dont clip at all. Does this stand true even if sub level is at +15? yes. +15 is how you get the full preout voltage on the sub preout. I have a kenwood. doesnt clip at all but sub level +3 and higher show distortion. thoughts? Kenwood 355U also 352U and 252U and 452U
03 Xtreme Fosgate
First off you got robbed when you got the Kicker L7...IMO,... 2nd if you have a DD-1 then read the book and find out clip level through amp. My kenwood clips at 32/35 but I don't get why some of you put sub level at +15 when tuning, doesn't the book say put all levels to flat and sub level to middle? I tuned mine at 0 level to have room to adjust for certain songs. Am I wrong here? Some headunits, like alpines, the sub level needs to be maxed to get rated voltage, and the sub level doesnt distort the wave either at max (generally +15). It is just how some are.
