I run the Kenwood DNX9980HD with no problems ... Simple, sweet, easy to control, and gets the job done !!!

External processors are nice ... but needs constant attention that most every day listening folks just don't have time for ...

The need to constantly tweak settings is a personal issue, one of self-doubt. Dial in a good tune with a couple of presets and call it done. This works best if you minimize the usual problems during the design phase and learn how to identify phase and FR problems. If someone doesn't know they're looking at a null caused by comb filtering that's a very frustrating problem when your EQ can't fix it.

I'm saying it's a matter of personal choice. Some people get their vehicle sounding great and want to leave it alone. You're a competitor and you socialize with other serious competitors. That's not the way everyone looks at car audio.

Some do, no arguement their. However, those same ones normally just drop in a set of passives and call it a day. Honestly, if it wasn't for those people this industry would be dead. the fact of the matter is the opt, came on here asking for help. So automatically puts him one step above an ordinary set and forget it car audio customer. Second going active three-way is two more steps up.

On the other side of things, over tuning can also hurt you.

The more buttons, knobs, gadgets and gizmos, the more trouble you can get into.

I would look for a simple easy to use quality deck and then run a solid processor to it. Personally I am a fan of the Alpine products. The 700 has been a solid unit and still holds up to some of the newer units. I just upgraded to the 800 and it's a whole different beast.

Something as simple as a 360.3 might fit your needs as well. I have tuned a few cars with them and have been impressed with its results. ARC and Mosconi both make killer units.

Designing, building, and shipping boxes. Yahoo IM - kingsuv00If the listening level is too loud, please inform the driver, so he can promptly pull over, and let you out.

not many cars can get me to pluggin my ears but this one.......damn. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it. :)
