Is this gonna blow my car up?

How many amps does your alternator put out. That is what it depends on.

wow not sure where to begin with all this false info being thrown out there. First you batt should be charging at 14.7 to 14.8 volts. This is normal for a vehicle. so anyone saying anything over 12 volts will harm your vehicle is just false. And if you want to use a AVBM you can run it at 15.1 volts safely. this will not harm your batt or your vehicles electrical. You may contact mechman and Steve M and i think they will agree with my statement.

you're gonna need a high output alt if you even want to think about running that amp full tilt.

400 amps of current being pulled solely by the amp. and you have like 50 amps of free power from the alt.

if you consistantly charge your batts at 14.7-14.8 they will gas and shorten lifespan. 14.8 isnt that high and not saying people dont do it. hell i even do it. but you need to know the risks. not sure where you get this false info from bro. we are saying anything close to 16volts may or may not harm vechicle but it is not worth the risk to test it. and if you did run that high of a voltage and car was fine you would need 14volt batts.

and OP, your electrical is no where close to being able to run a AQ 3500 full tilt.

you will need the biggest alt that will fit on your car from a reputable company and 2-3 XS Power D3100 or equivelant size batteries or ah. around 300 ah plus the alt to full tilt very safely.

I think people were saying if you run higher than a 12V system Thats what we call it. 12V batts actually rest at 12.6-12.9 and charge at 14-14.8V but we refer to them as 12V.

Also, 12V AGM batts should NOT be charged at more than 2.4V per cell. This means 14.4V max on 12V AGM batts.

Read any info you like from XS Power or other AGM batt manufacturers and you can see this. Also, warranty is usually void if charging too high.

Saying charging at 15.1V will not harm anything is False, unless you want cooked batteries that have a short lifespan.

I listen to everything Ed says. He knows his shit. Arguably the smartest guy on these forums imo.

Not the smartest, but thank you.

Being located 100 yards from Mechman and 5 yards from XS Power helps. Especially since I freelance as a product tester/ developer and may have helped write certain tech specs for the manuals.

But anyway to the OP.

You have a 3500W amp and a 1000W amp, is that correct?

Add on the draw of the engine and vehicle accessories and you will consume around 7500W of power from your electrical.

You could do 2) XS D3100s to sustain up to 10,000 and based on the total aH of 220aH, you would need at least a 220A alternator.

I have a Crescendo bc3500.1d and I'm going to be running a Stinger H/O alt (I think it's only 180 or something like that), 6 XS Power XP950's and an XS Power D4700 up front. I actually have 2 3500's but I'm only running one right now because I was worried the electrical wasn't going to be enough.

DO NOT EVER CUT CORNERS ON THE ELECTRICAL!!!!!!!!!!! Period! You'll screw something up. I'm not the smartest guy out here, but I'm smart enough to learn from the best people, including HHR, and listen when folks like him are explaining things.

That's just my $.02, but it kind of gives you a little idea about the power you're running and what you need to back it up.
