Amp pops on power on/power off

I have a polk c400.4 I bought used. Seems to work, however there is a very audible pop/click when turning my deck on or off. My old amp did not do this. I've re-grounded the amp twice.

Truck has big 3 done with 1/0, D3400 bat, mechman alt, etc. Just puzzled...google seems to suggest potential filter caps. Never been inside of an amp before but handy with an iron.

Thoughts?

This is the reason I don't like buying used equipment. Maybe get one of those remote turn on modules to help with turn on pop?

See if this fixes it and report back:

Disconnect the remote turn on lead and make sure it doesn't touch anything and leave everything else hooked up. Do this with the system off and no key in the ignition.

Turn on your car/system and make sure the volume is all the way down.

Connect the remote wire after your system has been on for a few seconds.

Lemme know what happens.

  • 5 months later...

Ok finally got my truck back. With everything off I can jump the remote and it pops on and off. Urg!

Who suggested that you do that?

If you are referring to the advice I gave you, that isn't what I said.
