Flared vs. Non-flared ports - An experiment

Recommended Posts

A hot wire anemometer has been used to measure airspeed in ports, however I believe most of the research on this topic has already been done before.

Much of this research have been presented and maybe available from aes.org.

I'm sure you are right, I just wish I didn't have to pay to get the information. But I guess that's how it works.

I think theyre pretty neat. When the water runs down your crack as you let one out... its like shitting in a crockpot.

It would be great to see a test doing core limits of the vent and compression and different flare radii.

Would also love to see testing at 30hz and 25hz, possibly 20hz but that would be very rare in a real world situation to be played.

i play 20Hz all the time :(

I think you have a bit of truck stuck in your mud bro

I meant the amount of people that play that low, plus the air velocity should be close to the same or lower from 25-20hz from my understanding, but I don't have the tools to measure the output of a correctly designed and assembled box.

And who can even hear 20 hz jk :P

Edit: Possibly a very slow sweep from 20-40hz to try and find peaks or other obstructions.

Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist?

I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . .

What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself

but what has drawn your attention

in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums

An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space

Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears,

thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.
