hdorre
If I remember correctly the 6k is the very crisp white, but only in the 55 watt bulb. The 6k have a very blue hue at 35 watts. So be the cool guy and run 6k 55w for the main lamps and 3k 35w for the fogs. My 35 watt 6ks aren't blue all. The only blue is my cutoff line, but that may be partially from the lenses. Brandonbkd
I wouldn't do 55w bulbs. They tend to melt headlight housings and are straight up blinding bright. IH8PunkRok
I wouldn't do 55w bulbs. They tend to melt headlight housings and are straight up blinding bright. It depends on the housing. I have had mine in for quite a while never had any issues. Also aiming has a lot to do with the blinding. I am one of those people with HIDs in stock housings and you know what? I never get flashed. Never I aimed them properly. If people would take more care then HIDs wouldn't have such a bad reputation -Matt2005 Dodge Magnum RTJVC KD-AVX1 2 PPI S580.2 Obsidian Audio ST1 Horn Tweeters PRV 8MB450s Audio Legion 3500.1D 2 RE MT 18s 360 ah LiFePO4 BatterySHCA 2/0 155.2 @ 29 hzKicker CVR 15's buildDD 3512e buildMini T-Line Build(6) 8s BuildNightshade 15s Wall BuildMagnum AB XFL 12s BuildNewest Magnum Build
Bump4life
i get flashed with my stock lights. and they are aimed very well. lol. when i turn my fogs on which aim down and you can clearly see that, people always flash me. my fogs and normal lights are in same housing so poeple think i turn my brights on. when i turn my actual brights on they get the point. im glad i read this. i was planning on going 55W 6k for my highs and 35watt for foggs. but im worries 55W will melt housing. i have a lot of room in there though. but still. dont want to melt anything. very good info. i like the idea of 3k foggs. how many of you have had melted housings with 55w hid? MACnonsence6
the melted housing issue worries me i wana run duel hids in my car being my new lights have seperate highs and lows so i dont wana melt my housing I picked up an MTX Sw1212 powered subwoofer today. This thing sounds amazing. 130 watts, 12" woofer with a passive 12" woofer tuned to 27 hz. Moving the pictures on the walls and my girl got wet from the bass when i showed her haha. rick1987
As others stated. 4300-5000 has the best light output. Anything higher appears to be brighter but that's because our eyes are more sensitive to color. So the blue/purple HIDs appear brighter but they light the road like crap! The 3k yellow HIDs or even halogen with a yellow capsule goes through the fog better. I molded my wiring in a past car so I could turn my fogs on independently. When I was driving in fog I would shut off my headlights and leave the fogs on. I could see perfect.
rick1987
And my opinion is you should not run HID in halogen housings. The reflectors in a halogen housing are designed for Halogen use. I retro fit oem audi projectors into my halogen housing.
