RooTxBeeR
Is this for games or producing? I've had the same maudio delta card for years and its done fine. They make optical out and optical in as well. Is optical the deal killer? Lotta cards support digital in and out via a wired cable. Yes Optical would be the deal killer. I have never heard anything sourced through optical, and if I am to spend the money and time on this project, I want it to be the best it can be. With my Xonar D1 it appears that I can't do optical in on windows 7, the manual shows it working for Vista, I may just be dumb and can't figure it out.. Well, I think I only need optical out, going to go from the soundcard to a Stereo then to the speakers. Am I right on that? The hell with Asus, Asus is just the Kicker of PC parts. Get HT Omega brand. I will check them out On 11/20/2012 at 8:54 PM, AMI CUSTOMS said: Turned mine up today at a light, guy next to me his steering wheel started moving and he looked over at me like I was a magician lol. Krakin
Yeah, the only reason I tried to get optical in is to go from my PS3 to card to sound system, but had to end up going analog in. RooTxBeeR
Most higher end motherboards have optical out on board. Would there be any difference in quality or performance in the audio between a optical out onboard or one from a card? I know that the 5.1 will be handled by the stereo, I just want the best signal and quality to be passed to it. beaker
10 years ago I'd say yes, there would be a difference. Now, not so much. Its all the same signal, it depends more on the encode/decode is where you run into differences.
