Dude2800 Posted December 1, 2013 Report Posted December 1, 2013 I ran a toggle switch. My Pioneer has to see the emergency break twice. I flip the switch twice and I'm good. It cost $5 at a local audio shop.
Dude2800 Posted December 1, 2013 Report Posted December 1, 2013 Also I learned that it's looking for a ground not power.
bbeljefe Posted December 1, 2013 Report Posted December 1, 2013 What do you mean when you say you connect the relay in front of the bypass and then behind it? Are you connecting the bypass module to the output of the relay or directly to the turn on wire from the head unit? When you're using a relay, everything that get's turned on with the sound system should be switched by the relay and the only thing that should be connected to the head unit's remote out is the coil on the relay. EDIT: And just as an FYI, don't turn on more than two devices with the head unit's remote out. It's a low current supply and if you have an overcurrent event on that line, you're likely to damage the head unit. Also, when some amps fail they end up putting a huge current draw on the remote input, which again... will almost certainly damage the head unit if there is no relay to buffer it from the amp. Well when I first connected the bypass to the HU remote it would allow me to watch video while driving but it wouldn't turn on the amps. I then added the relay after it, didn't change a thing. Then hooked the relay directly to the HU, then from there hooked the bypass to the remote out of the relay and same thing. Since I knew I was gonna be running multiple amps i got a relay on the remote from the HU right away. I then switched HU's to one that requires a bypass to watch video while driving. Ever since then it seems no matter how I wire it I cannot have best of both world, I can either watch video while driving and not have my amps turn on, or not watch video while driving and have my amps turn on. With one or the other hooked up it works as it should but I got 3 mids/highs amps alone and soon 2 sub amps so I NEED (personal preference) a relay but I can't get the bypass and the relay to work together not matter how I wire them, makes no sense to me and I am super frustrated with it right now. Right now they are both mounted behind HU and I can watch video while driving but my amps won't turn on. Seems though like the bypass is for whatever reason not getting satisfied, so I have to unhook a remote from an amp and immediately hook it back up to get both amps to turn on every time I go driving.
