That Loud Focus...USAlternators Hairpin, 4 DD 9515i's in a B pillar on 2 Soundstream XXX-15K's. Caps and Lithium Power. New vids

Recommended Posts

the focus likes 38hz as well. should peak around 45-46 hz 51 at the highest imo. my last few boxes where tuned around 38hz and peaked around 45-46hz and then a few boxes tuned around 40-42hz peaked at 51hz.

if I was you I would get on a meter and test it out then do some flares on the ports and remeter. you should see a .1+ increase from flares and should sound a bit better imo. every little bit helps.

oh and if you haven't treid it on a tl yet did my passenger side visor down and gained about .08db. didn't get the chance to mess with anything else in the car to see what I could gain. was suggested to me to try with the passenger seat all the way forward and all the way back.

I have bass raced it before on TL but never burped or did a sweep. but ya my old box was tuned to 32 hz and it got loud but not as loud as I expected. I think the higher tuning will work out better.

So got up a couple vids of my friends car. one of some flex and one showing off the mids and highs.

http://youtu.be/AUVdsktsZFo

http://youtu.be/p1hBQUGmM4w

we found out that despite the box being tuned to 36 hz it can play down into the mid twenties.

everything is somewhat clean but keep in mind we are ripping it all out this week to put in the second 15.

we have decided to do the two fifteens firing into the cab inverted. we measured and it is possible but we will have to build the box in 2 separate parts. so this should get

pretty interesting. we plan on building the box Thursday or Friday so stay tuned for updates.

So it's been a while since there have been any updates but trust me a lot has gotten done. my box is almost done. just a few more coats of paint. and we have ripped everything out of my friends car and have about half of his box finished. I got a lot more supplies and equipment for my car as well. I am currently out of town but when I get back I will start to post up some more pics.

Nice build! I previously owned the loudest unwalled Zx3 built until I sold it and bought a 2013 Scion TC. If you have any questions at all I'm here to talk. Its cool to see these Focus hatch builds popping up everywhere. It would have been cooler if people were building theirs when I still had mine. The equipment is in the SIG along with numbers if you're interested, everything is on the dash unless noted.

I do have one small suggestion that I would reccomend. I've found that woofers upon and port to the drivers side is loudest in the car. I'm not sure how much different the Zx5 is than the Zx3 but I would guess most things would be similar.

Only difference is the amount if doors, the Katy out of the trunk and the way theback seat works is all the same. The rear does could potentially be a weak spot for flexing and letting pressure escape but if there is a difference in how easy they are to get loud I would think it would be minimum.

Yeah, the car likes a but if a higher tuning fir the meter. These cars still like lows even with a higher tuning though.

Ok so its been a while since I have updated anything. So far a lot has gotten done. My box is almost finished and my friends box is about half way done. with his car we have to build the box in the trunk so it's taking a bit. for anyone that missed it we will be doing the 2 15's firing forward. it's a bit tricky building it all but it will be a lot better that firing directly against the trunk lid. I have been trying to save up pics so I can post things up as a series instead of just a bunch of random pics. but I do have some pics of new stuff I have bought. anyways, here is all the stuff I have recently picked up.

Here is what will be going into my doors. this is just one pair. I still need to get a second pair given that I will have two in each door. These are the SME.654's by Soundstream

I'm goanna be using Soundstream RCA's. I got one 17' RCA in and am waiting on a couple more. My friend uses the same RCA's

in his car as well.

Also got my tweeters in and I couldn't believe they came in metal tins. I thought that was pretty sweet. anyways I will have 2 in each door.

also bought myself a DTR.680. For now it will run my mids and highs. eventually, I am either going to get a second DTR, or I may get the Soundstream X3

4 channel. I figured I didn't need to post pics of the DTR since it's the same one as my friends.

I also got 6 feet of Sky High 4 gauge for my DTR

And I finally got an LC-1 that I can use as a bass knob. I had "knock off" one that broke a while back so I decided

to get the "real" one this time. come to find out it's the same thing just in a different package. Oh well, I will just

have to be more careful with this one.

Then i got my fleece for my door pods. i was going to use a different fabric but i got a really good deal on the fleece and decided to go with that.

Anyways that's it for my car. My box should be finished this weekend so I will post up pics of it soon. After i finish my box it

will be time for door pods. so stay tuned for that.

So just a small update on the my friends car. He finally got in his second SPLX-152HF. Here are the pics.

As you can see the old one has seen better days. nothing is wrong with it and it works perfectly fine but in this pic you can really see

the gash on the surround. for now the we will use it as is but this spring we will recone it.

anyways that's it for today. Thanks to all who have been commenting and following the build.
