oldsoundguy Posted July 3, 2014 Author Report Posted July 3, 2014 Did more work on the tweeter pods today. I drilled out two holes in each for the studs and counter sunk them. I put in some SMD sunflash to hold them in place. That worked great. Filled them with filler and put a few coats of primer on them. I am going to try and get them wrapped in fabric tonight but if not then tomorrow morning. 80prs Arc Audio Xdi 1200.6 (using active crossovers) Freaking awesome amplifier Incriminator IA 10.1 Focal PS 130v 5.25 (doors) 4" Faital pro Neo (kick panels) 3" Faital pro Neo and focal tweets( dash) DC Audio level 3 12" custom box designed by joex built by me AGM front, XS 750SE batteries rear DC 180 alt 99 Toyota Tacoma extra cab http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179476-my-small-build-turned-into-the-ongoing-build/

JNells Posted July 4, 2014 Report Posted July 4, 2014 Tweets look real good.. Loving the glassed in bolt method to mount too. Malibu Build Log
oldsoundguy Posted July 4, 2014 Author Report Posted July 4, 2014 Tweets installed. Only one problem is that the bottom stud on the pass side started spinning when I was tightening it down. I used nylon lock nuts and it may have been a bit tight for that application. Only time it will be a real problem is if I try and take them off. Good thing is its easy to take off the fabric and I am sure I could pop the resin and bondo out the face again if I had too. Not a big deal. Next is to work on the lower speaker panels. 80prs Arc Audio Xdi 1200.6 (using active crossovers) Freaking awesome amplifier Incriminator IA 10.1 Focal PS 130v 5.25 (doors) 4" Faital pro Neo (kick panels) 3" Faital pro Neo and focal tweets( dash) DC Audio level 3 12" custom box designed by joex built by me AGM front, XS 750SE batteries rear DC 180 alt 99 Toyota Tacoma extra cab http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179476-my-small-build-turned-into-the-ongoing-build/
bcbrassard Posted July 4, 2014 Report Posted July 4, 2014 Tweeds are looking good! Yes please start on those lower panels to pretty them up! lol Hell you'll have yours done before mine, waiting for speakers to show up! But thinking i should put the midbass in the kicks and T2s & T3s in the doors. Just hate having mix matched set in the doors. Just cant afford another set of T3s right now. Keep up the good work~

Keep up the good work~ Thanks man. Its a lot of fun doing it all yourself for sure. I wanted to do the little tweet pod/trim just to get an idea of what I would run into with the mid speakers. I think I have it all worked out in my mind. I will try and work on cutting out one of the door panels tomorrow. I need to get a flush cut bit for my router then I can make and exact copy of it for the other door. 80prs Arc Audio Xdi 1200.6 (using active crossovers) Freaking awesome amplifier Incriminator IA 10.1 Focal PS 130v 5.25 (doors) 4" Faital pro Neo (kick panels) 3" Faital pro Neo and focal tweets( dash) DC Audio level 3 12" custom box designed by joex built by me AGM front, XS 750SE batteries rear DC 180 alt 99 Toyota Tacoma extra cab http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179476-my-small-build-turned-into-the-ongoing-build/
Eric winter Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 Those tweeters look awesome good work. I love the sunkin bolts and the warp makes a lot cleaner of a look. Can't wait to see what you do with the lower speakers now I bet you got something awesome planned. Can't wait to see the next updates
oldsoundguy Posted July 5, 2014 Author Report Posted July 5, 2014 Thought of the day... I wish we sat in the middle of the front seat to drive. I was tuning my system and was sitting in the center and It sounded so good. It sounded like the music was coming from in front of me in the center of the dash. It was weird and cool at the same time. 80prs Arc Audio Xdi 1200.6 (using active crossovers) Freaking awesome amplifier Incriminator IA 10.1 Focal PS 130v 5.25 (doors) 4" Faital pro Neo (kick panels) 3" Faital pro Neo and focal tweets( dash) DC Audio level 3 12" custom box designed by joex built by me AGM front, XS 750SE batteries rear DC 180 alt 99 Toyota Tacoma extra cab http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179476-my-small-build-turned-into-the-ongoing-build/
oldsoundguy Posted July 5, 2014 Author Report Posted July 5, 2014 Well SOAB I just cant stop with this stuff. So addicted its ridiculous. I ordered the Pioneer 80PRS off Amazon for 259 which is about the best price I could find. Hopefully I don't have noise problems. Also ordered some vent shades for my truck to keep the rain off of my tweet pods. I went to Home Depot today and bought some 1/4" dowel rod for mounting the speaker rings to the door panel. Bought carriage bolts to use as studs for the door panel. I figured I could tap them with a hammer to set the square end into the MDF to help keep them from spinning after I put the epoxy in there to hold them in. I got a 1" flush cut bit for my router so I can make two identical door panels. Bought some 1/4" staples for my air staple gun to attach the fabric. I think I have everything I need to build the door panels. Now I just need to get started. lol 80prs Arc Audio Xdi 1200.6 (using active crossovers) Freaking awesome amplifier Incriminator IA 10.1 Focal PS 130v 5.25 (doors) 4" Faital pro Neo (kick panels) 3" Faital pro Neo and focal tweets( dash) DC Audio level 3 12" custom box designed by joex built by me AGM front, XS 750SE batteries rear DC 180 alt 99 Toyota Tacoma extra cab http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179476-my-small-build-turned-into-the-ongoing-build/
