KiKaZz74
so we have a netgear n600 router at our main computer. we have 30 down 5 up internet at our house. the comp/router is on the first floor at east end of thehouse. the house is roughly 60ft long. in my room i have little or no signal. i live upstairs on west end. i use my laptop mostly over there for music and movie streaming and up my stairs i have our old comp with a usb inernet adapter on it and i lose connection on that quite a bit. also in the basement we have our gaming center. not much of a problem but it is slow at some times. i want to be able to watch movies without 2 days of loading so it doesn buffer every 2 minuteswhile playing my question is would a range extender help? and how much will it help? and where should i place it? the one i was looking at is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122422 if that one is junk what should i look at? and how many? total connections are- 1 wired- main floor 1wireless laptop-main or 2nd floor 1 wireless desktop-2nd floor 1 ps3-basement 2-5 phones and ipods at any time possibly more.-all 3 floors possibility of a 2nd wireless Mac in the basement and the usb adapted computer going to the garage with a Mac replacing it upstairs My SPL to SQ Build Log Vehicle:1997 Dodge Dakota Ext Cab 4x4 2009 Dodge Journey SXT5.2L V8 Magnum 3.5L V6 Stock AltEquipment: Headunit- Alpine CDE-147BT Mids/Highs Amp- JL Audio G6600 Class AB 6 Channel Sub Amp- Hifonics BRZ1700.1D @ 2 Ohms Taramps DSP3000.1D Sub- Hertz Hi Energy 12" HX300D SounDrive SDA3 12 Tweeters- Rockford Fosgate Power Series Silk Domes Hertz Hi-Energy Mids- Dayton Audio Reference 4" Full Range Drivers Midbass- Silver Flute 6.5" Hertz Hi-Energy 6.5" Processor- MiniDSP 2x4 RCA- 6 channels of SounDrive HF series Wire- EB Flex 2/0 -Member of Team SounDrive
gally
if your computer dont have much wireless signal, you should buy an external wireless adapter such as ˘˘˘˘ it will help you quite a bit... my comp also was having a bad conection with the internet till i bought this wireless adapter... oh..and buy one with the longest range/bigger mbps ratio...prices are bettween 20-70$ for one of those... 2010 Chevrolet Cruze Radio --- pioneer mvh-200vbt Front/back --- alpine type s 6.5" Sub Control --- Pac LC1 Sub Amp --- GZPA 1.4K Sub --- GZNW 15XSPL D1 Battery - GZBP 12.2500X

Like where my beds are is a dead zone. And I hate the firmware for it. If it gets disconnected you have to uninstall and reinstall everything... maybe because of the mbps ratio...the higher it is the easiest is to pick up the signal..also dont connect directly to the usb port...use the extension cord and the adapter and try placing in different places... 2010 Chevrolet Cruze Radio --- pioneer mvh-200vbt Front/back --- alpine type s 6.5" Sub Control --- Pac LC1 Sub Amp --- GZPA 1.4K Sub --- GZNW 15XSPL D1 Battery - GZBP 12.2500X
KiKaZz74
Ya I did. It might be the n300 im not sure ill find the box. But I use the wire right to my open stair railing. But over where my beds are ive got one bar on phone if that and 2/4 on laptop. Slow as shit too. I do have a netgear router my dad brought home from work. Just no power cord. Its a rp614. Looks like just a switch box tho now that I look at it. gally
for higher speeds i bought the linksys wrt54gl router(works wonders for me)...not so cheap but as you said im kinda the same on the far east corner....i use this wireless internet adaptor with the lynksys router and it works pretty well.....my internet is not so fast as yours(because over here is pretty expensive to have a faster internet than 10down/4up-load speed) that rp614 model is practically an extnesion of the original router, you just need a power cord for the internet tho 2010 Chevrolet Cruze Radio --- pioneer mvh-200vbt Front/back --- alpine type s 6.5" Sub Control --- Pac LC1 Sub Amp --- GZPA 1.4K Sub --- GZNW 15XSPL D1 Battery - GZBP 12.2500X

n8ball2013
The only way to really make a range extender is to cable it. Wireless point to point pretty much sucks.
