Kyblack76
I'd keep speaking with Mike on the issue. Part failure is not common with his alts. I know some vehicles are just flat out a bitch to get a aftermarket HO in and working correct. But parts failing? No. Stay in touch with him. There is no one else that will give you the personal service he does. Good luck. fox_racin4
Mike will do his absolute best to help you. Your externally regulated, have you checked to see if your regulator is scctually turning OFF when key is off? If not that could be the issue. 1998 gmc extd cab 12 crossfire C710s 4 SAZ-4500s 3 Singer 400A altsbuncha mids/highs Team Asshole
Guest
We tried a 160 amp stock case I was still having bad voltage drop and the regulator did not hold out for me. He said the larger cases have more reliable beefed up parts and better regulators so we went with the GM case. As far as the batteries go I know it is recommended to run xs throughout but I think its better more acceptable that a yellowtop is the same sort of AGM technology compared to those running bone stock wet cells under the hood without an issue. optima uses spiral cells instead of square/rectangular cells like every other AGM battery. they're the oddball out and their batteries suck because of the "technology" they use to set them apart from the competition. DedicatedEnthusiast
Yes my name is Phil. Big three is done in #2 ga. welding wire which I know is not 0 ga. but im only operationally drawing 65 amps or so from the crescendo. Combined with my vehicle needs that's a total of 14 amps or so. Singer even told me to use a 160 amp in-line fuse if I chose to cuz of the amount of current draw the alt would actually see. The regulator before I spliced it into the one plug wire I made sure I had 12v with the key on and 0 with it off. Again I know the yellow tops are nowhere near as good as xs power but I figured I was doing one better going with a yellow top as compared to a stock wet cell and Mike told me the stock wet cell would have been fine as well. DedicatedEnthusiast
Meant to say total of 145 amps or so. Mike also told me an amp only operationally draws 1/3rd of its actual fuse load
DedicatedEnthusiast
I am fully confident in his alts as I have read no bad news or reviews on him or his products. I just don't understand what's going wrong here. The alt just does not seem to want to agree with my car.
DedicatedEnthusiast
As it turns out talking to Singer himself was just the right thing to do. He has once again made things right with me and then some. My choice of an ignition source may have been leaking voltage causing the regulator to burn out on itself or the parts could have been a bad batch from the manufacturer but either way Mike is going to upgrade me to an externally regulated six phase alt to virtually eliminate any source of further failure.
