tylerpsycho Posted December 16, 2013 Report Posted December 16, 2013 I am planning on running 2K rms. I have a 100A stock alt, 950A cold crank battery under the hood. I plan on performing the Big 3 asap. Well I be able to run 2k (+my sick door speakers) or what will I need to do?
vetkilr01 Posted December 16, 2013 Report Posted December 16, 2013 Add a group 31 AGM batt in rear and you should be fine.

ChevyBoy95 Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 for 2krms, i would make sure you have a nice sized AGM up front, and a group 31 AGM in the rear as a second battery. That and the big 3 and you will be fine. I know people want to know the amp to say if it can really pull close to 200a (rated power), but i feel like it is going to end up in a "well you should upgrade to this amp" type of thread. my .02 Best Score to Date : 160.5 dB Outlaw (47Hz)[4 XM 15's & 2 Taramps Bass 12k's] BL : http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/147800-chevyboy95s-4-15s-7krms-wall-1533-db-on-half-power/YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/hitemwiththeflex/
tylerpsycho Posted December 17, 2013 Author Report Posted December 17, 2013 Im getting an Alpine MRX2000 from a friend. Its a good amp. It'll be ppowering two SA12s. Would a big normal lead acid battery upfront be fine? I wouldnt mind upgrading but ive got 2 years on my warranty for it still.

Is it around the same price as a sa amp? Just my .02 check out the for sale section around here to see if you may be able to find something around the same price that will put out rated, and to get back to your question if you want to run 2k watts - big 3, agm batt, and I would recommend an h/o alt unless you can find an amp that likes to run under 14.4v maybe some one else can chime in 2003 silverado TEAM DC Pioneer Avh 5500 4 DC lvl 5 18s 12 crescendo pwx 6.5s 4 crescendo ft1 tweets 6xs d3400s Singer 400 alt Skyhigh ofc wires Skyhigh speaker wires Smd vm1 2 DC 175.4 DC 10k

Tarball Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 I second the H.O. alt. It just better than to try and compensate with batteries IMO. tylerpsycho Posted December 17, 2013 Author Report Posted December 17, 2013 I would love an HO alt, but to get good quality one you're looking at at $500. My truck has 240k on her so who knows how much longer she'll last. I've seen people run2k or a little more off of a good under the good battery and a good battery for the amp with smaller alts. I was just wanting to get your guys opinion. As for the price,I'm paying 315 shipped. It's a year old but with only 6 months use by guy who knows his stuff so he likely didn't do much harm to it
